I'm in need of some comfort food that is none fattening? Any ideas.?!

Question: try putting some grapes and cherries in the freezer, they get like hard boiled sweets. another low fat choice is marsh mellows [toasted or untoasted] as they're very low in fat or strawberries dipped in a teeny weeny bit of melted dark chocolate

Low fat ice-cream or biscuits? Cheer up

plain popcorn, salt if you must but not buttered

a bag of carrots?

I would go for salted popcorn

low fat dairy is quite comforting, like cheese or low fat ice cream. It really depends on what YOU find comforting....and lightening up the calories if you can.

My favorite treat.....slice an apple and dip it in a little honey. So sweet and delicious. Another absolute FAVORITE is soup. There are so many lowfat soups or you can make one from scratch and have a nice big bowl without consuming too many calories.

Feel well.

Try your favorite fruit, they are healthy and can be filling!
Making your own soup is also good, but I wouldn't eat canned soups even the low-fat ones because they are full of salt which gets absorbed into the blood stream and can cause you to gain water-weight if you drink a lot of water.

mash with no butter

rice cakes

snack a jacks

covent garden soup (tomato and basil one)

* Cream of wheat (with skim milk and a little sugar or maple syrup)
* Home made granola (to snack on, or a cereal)
* "Skinny" mashed potatoes (made with chicken broth)
* Tomato soup with 1 pkg oyster crackers
* Minestrone soup (serves nearly all my comfort needs!)
* Chicken soup with the fat skimmed from the top
* Curried butternut squash soup (made with skim milk - oh sooo good on a cold winter's night)
* Veggie lasagna
* Pasta topped with spinach or broccoli sauted with olive oil and garlic, and a few teaspoons grated romano cheese (my husband's favorite meal)
* Roasted chestnuts or hazelnuts (roasting brings out their sweetness - try them warm)
* One piece of dark chocolate (the flavor goes a long way, and many benefits)
* Constant Comment tea, Bigelow Sweet Dreams tea, Sleepy Time tea, or flavored green tea, hot with honey
...

eat favorite fruit or vegetable.

For me, comfort food needs to be substantial and warm. A good-sized bowl of the following is heart healthy, full of fiber and protein, and religiously satisfyting: To a cup of cooked, whole-wheat pasta, drizzle in a little garlic olive oil, add half of a grilled chicken breast (sliced up), some chopped fresh parsley and a tiny bit of grated Parmagiano-Reggiano cheese. If you want a little color, add some chopped, sun-dried tomatoes. Your heart, colon, arteries and even your brain will thank you! When you're finished, you'll feel full, satisfied, and self-satisfied because you were good to your body. :)

Sugar-free chocolate pudding. Jello is the best. My kids and husband love it. They really can't taste the difference.

I just found some great honey coated, almond cornflakes that are 30% less fat and sugar than normal. Maybe your local supermarket has them too. You can eat them with low fat milk or they are great just out of the box. Hope you feel better soon, all the best.

If you live near a tesco they have chocolate desserts, low fat only 100 calories. If you need something warming make soup with tinned tomatoes, carrot, celery a pint of stock and lots of basil. If you want something smaller, go for french fries or quavers, less calories and fat than other snacks. A cup of hot chocolate, or a cup soup, or bovril in hot water.

Nettie, I would suggest a chocolate Carmel cheesecake shake, mmmmm sounds great and you can make it at home, and guess what you can make it for under 350 calories, yep you sure can, I make them every day with Herbalife Formula 1 shake mix and skim milk white or chocolate, 1 TBS of sugar free Carmel syrup 1 tbs of sugar free jello cheesecake pudding mix, and 1 cup of ice blend on med high for 2 minutes and walla you have a delicious nutritious comfort food shake.

Spicy, thick lentil soup. Filling and satisfying, as well as very good for you. Make it even better with a dollop of yogurt on top and a sprinkling of cumin and paprika. Although there is nothing wrong with having some fat in your diet. You can't live without it.
