Diet Coke/Pepsi and Dieting?!

Question: I am wondering do I need to give up diet colas in order to diet. I am trying to lose about 20 lbs in 4 months (5lbs/month). Just a challenge I have given myself.

I use to drink plenty of cola's but I know that doesn't help so I am coming down easy by switching to diet cokes/pepsi (even coke zero).

Can I still diet, lose weight and drink diet drinks?

You could, but it will speed up the weight loss process if you do cut them out altogether, or maybe limit yourself to just one a day.
While diet sodas don't have the calories or sugar content of most regular soda, they do have a lot of sodium, which can make you feel more thirsty and feel bloated. The carbonation in soda, diet or otherwise, will also add to the bloated feeling.

well ya it has no calories but it will bloat you like crazy and all the sugars not good Report It

  • It's better to cut out soda all together. Sugar substitutes are full of chemicals, and you'd be better off drinking a real cola.

However, if you can't live without soda, one or two diet drinks a day won't hurt or hinder your weight loss.

Some studies show that diet soda usually doesn't help u when you're dieting. Something in the diet soda makes most people tempted to snack more. Good luck!

soda is bad for you but if you need to drink a little every day, DO NOT go with diet soda, the excitotoxins will hinder your ability to lose weight effectively...
pure cane sugar is better for you than artificial sweetners any day of the week...
really you should cut out any food or drink that is man-made...

Of course you can, they don't have any calories.

However, you don't want to drink excessive amounts of diet colas.

Any diet sodas that contain phoshoric acid (which all colas do) will cause the body to excrete calcium, which I am sure you know, your body needs.

So, as my dad use to say "Moderation" is the key.

Also, if you drink colas that a caffeinated too often, your body can get hooked on it.

Many people, for example who drink a lot of coffee and then try to cut back end up getting headaches and feeling agitated.

Yes! you will still lose weight there are no calories in diet drinks. One problem though...due to the high sodium content you will retain water therefore you may show a weight gain on your scale, water weight will disapear when you stop drinking soda and rid yourself of the water buildup. It does not turn into fat. An excellent soda without sodium is Diet-Rite soda the only set back it has a short shelf life so don't stock up on it buy a couple of bottles at a time.

it would be a heck of alot easier to lose the weight if u just cut out the coke... drink unsweetend tea, or water, or juices, v8 is really good too... best of luck!
