It doesn't sound like you need to worry about the fat content. At your height and weight, with exercise, a 1500 calorie diet will have you losing weight at a steady rate.

You should be sure you're getting a variety of foods - grains, fruits & vegetables, and protein - so that you get all the vitamins and nutrients you need. For example, 1500 calories a day of ice cream (and nothing else) would make you lose weight but wouldn't be very good for you. On the other hand, if you eat foods that you enjoy and make you feel satisfied, then you're ok. Things like cheese and peanut butter are fine if they fill you up - they are often better at filling you up than a big salad, even though they're smaller.

If you can get in some green vegetables every day, that would be best, as those are good for you in so many ways like fighting cancer, antioxidants, etc.

It's also helpful to find a support group to help you stick with your plan, try one like www.weightcircles.com.
