Is eating canned fruit unhealthy?!


Question: I realize that it isn't as great as eating fresh fruit, but when I'm in a rush it is easier to have canned fruit or bring a can of it to work. I do eat fresh fruit to, but is eating canned fruit bad? Am I better off not eating it than having no fruit at all? Are there some brands or types that are better than others? Thanks!

Canned fruits in natural or light syrups are very good. Your still get the vitamins and benefits of eating fresh. Don't buy in heavy syrups those have lots of sugar.

Canned fruit has alot of additives & also added sugar. If you are going to get fruit, might as well eat it fresh. You will get more of the vitamins that way.

canned fruit isn't good for you. it's full of sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

eat fresh fruit or not at all... canned fruit is "dead" fruit with no vitamins and minerals that your body desperately needs...

Just remember that canned fruits have added sugar and preservatives which make them more unhealthy. Who wants that extra sugar in canned pineapples when fresh pineapples are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants?

its good to eat if its packed in its owned juice and thats the kind i usually buy. the other stuff that is in a syrup isnt good for you its got alot of additives.

most canned fruits have tons of added sugar, look for the sugar free variety

Eating canned fruit is not a good idea because it does have a higher sugar content and is sometimes filled with additives and preservatives to prolong the shelf life. I suggest if you are trying to consume foods that are healthier, that you just pay the extra change and get what is good for you in the long run. Canned anything is not completely the greatest for you. You may just want to go ahead and purchase fresh fruits from your local farmers market or fruit stand. It is less expensive than buying them out the grocery store.
