Can I have information on ab crunches and how to lose belly fat?!

Question: Let's see..

I currently do approximately 150-200 ab crunches a day (after school because that is the only time I can spare). 50 reps in each set. I have started a week ago, making that about 10 days so far. Well I know results are a long way but I'm determined. Although the all feedback I've read (from people who've answered similar questions) are very discouraging.

For example, if you're dealing with a layer of fat on your stomach, no matter how many ab crunches you do, your abs will not be visible, am I right?

Basically, can some one give me tips, information and advice about how to lose belly fat.

And should i keep doing the ab crunches? It's discouraging to know that what I'm doing does not show results.

Also an in-depth description on what I SHOULD be doing, please?

Do not be discouraged, you just have to meet the right people with the positive altitude.

Abs can only be visible if you lose the layer of fat that is covering it. Doing abs exercise will only add core strength and you can only see a slight improvement without doing cardio.

To lose that belly fat, you should:
Eat a healthy diet that is low in simple sugars and junk food.
Eat smaller portion meals or avoid snacks.
Do not eat within 2 hours of sleep.
Make sure you do some kind of cardio: 3 times a week, 30 minutes each time.

Yes, you should keep doing abs crunches, but reduce the #s of repetitions. Do this:
Go out and get a Swiss Ball.
Perform crunches on it.
Do 3-4 sets, 20-30 reps, 3 times per week.
Once it becomes easy, use weight to add resistance.

Just be patient. If you begin to do cardio and exercising at the same time, within 2 months, you might actually will be able to see it. Patient is a virtue.

P.S. with your weight, it will not be hard to get abs soon, you just need to avoid over eating.

= )

I read that you will lose more belly fat if you eat yogurt three times a day - don't give up on the excersise these things take time!

yes ur right, u need to lose the belly fat first or u wont see those abs so u gotta eat less, and no fat foods, and like u gotta run on the treadmill everyday for like 25 minutes for like 2.5 km or more and keep doin the sit ups, after that youll look how u wanna look, i was in the same situation ur in actually im ur height and im losin my belly fat so ill tell u it wont take more then like 2 or 3 months if u do it everyday
gud luck

wow i only do like 25 crunches a day and my stomach is very flat....and yea crunches are the best exercise for losing belly fat so stick to it....i'm 5'3 95 lbs

Fat and muscle are different cells. The only way to lose fat is to burn more calories than you intake. You can do this either by diet or cardio exercise. You whould aim for at least 30-45 minutes of moderate cardio 3-4 times a week. Ab excercises help build muscle which is necessary to get a toned mid-section. As far as crunches, you should get an excercise ball. There are a variation of different moves that target the lower, upper, and side of your abs. This will also prevent boredom. I also find that you forces you to use good form since you have to engage your ab muscles to maintain balance

You have a good start. To help you to thin down, I would add in push-ups, body weight squats and lunges to help build lean muscle mass. Than add in cardio to drop your percent body fat to under 10%.

Doing that many crunches is very good so stick with that. But there is a sight called www.shape.com and you could find lots of exercises strictly for abs that aren't very time consuming. They've also got good cardio programs, you should check those out and figure out a fitness. There's no need to restrict your calories, you should still eat healthy but studies show that Americans have begun to eat 2 or 3% more but we move around almost 20% less. So you just need to move around more and before you know it you're going to have some NICE abs. Good luck!

I had the same problem as you. I did a bunch of crunches and sit ups everyday for uncouple of months and nothing really happened. go to http://www.directnetbuy.net/html/truthab...
Shows you the proper exercises (over 70!) that helped me and will help you gain visible abs muscles.

Good Luck!
