Is it okay to drink hot chocolate if I'm on a diet?!

Question: Okay here's my suggestion, I don't know if it will help or not but this is what I do--
I'm vegan, so no milk for me. The already prepared mixes have hydrogenated oils (=trans fat) and lots of preservatives, artificial sweeteners, sugar, and even salt. Instead, I use vanilla soy milk (about a cup, maybe a bit less) and add a tablespoon of plain, unsweetened cocoa powder. (I find it works better to mix the cocoa with about 2 tablespoons of the soy milk before adding the rest of the milk--smoothes it out a bit) Then I microwave it for about 50-60 seconds. Very quick and easy. The healthiest version I've ever found, because the cocoa has zero sugar. It has the antioxidants and flavor of dark chocolate without the fat and sugar (Never try to eat this cocoa plain lol...yuck without added sugar). Also, a tablespoon of cocoa is only 20 calories-that's diet friendly chocolate if i've ever heard of it. Try hershey's brand-its best (no preservatives, fillers, etc.) The vanilla soy milk has added sweeteners (usually organic sugar or cane juice-healthy in moderation). This provides the sweet taste to hot cocoa. It really feels like a treat. If you are sensitive to soymilk (or just don't like it), you can always use regular skim milk with cocoa powder. You would have to add some sugar on this one but thats fine. Heck, even melting a little real chocolate in it would be better than the fake store bought kind of hot chocolate.
Okay, so bottom line (finally)...Homemade is always better than prepackaged convenience food on a diet.
I hope I helped (lol I really tried)!

of course!!! you can eat anything! just in moderation

and dont listen to that girl that said dont listen to me

trust me...i am on weight watchers and i eat whatever i want...just as long as i stay in my points range for the day...if i want pizza..i can have pizza...if i want ice cream...i can have ice cream...just because your on a diet doesnt mean you give up everything you love...you should eat healthy all the time even when you reach your goal weight...so basically dont even go on a diet...change your lifestyle!

Get the sugar free kind.

no, dont listen to that girl you cant eat anything.

and yes you can have hot choclate though, providing that you are drinking it with pure cocoa ie. no added sugar, and skim milk

Well, it's not horrible to drink hot chocolate but they now make hot chocolate that is healthier: Try possibly:
1. ovaltine chocolate lite (only 74 calories)
2. swiss miss chocolate-sugar free (only 60 calories)

I think it depends on what kind of diet you are on. if they say no hot chocolate...then maybe there is a reason, like watching your calorie intake. I am on a diet and I kind of went overboard with hot chocolate at one point thinking it was ok to drink it. Just drink the serving size and have it made with water instead of milk. If you like marshmellows..sub them with Lite Cool Whip or Regular Cool Whip. Cool Whip is a lot less calories: 25 per serving, versus marshmellows: 100 per serving. Good luck..just remember not to go overboard and enjoy.

if your on a diet i dont recommend it but some people say chocolate helps you lose weight so you might want to ask a doctor or go online somewhere because people here might not know and give you the wrong information
