Difference between toning abs and losing weight??!

Question: I've been very confused for a while, even though i've done research I can't seem to get it. Everyone changes their answers. What's the difference between toning abs and getting muscle rather than losing weight??
I am a 17 year old female, my height is 5'1 and I only weigh 107 lbs. I'm skinny everywhere except for my midsection (stomach) and lower abdomen. That's where all the fat seems to store for me.
The reason why i'm asking this question is because I don't need to lose weight...
If anyone can help me, I would very much appreciate it!
Thanks!

Toning and muscle gain are from exercises where you need machines / weights or just work on certain muscle groups. These will help you GAIN weight and muscle. They can also spot reduce fat in the area. Also, gaining more muscles will speed up metabolism.

Losing weight is a whole different story. Doing a lot of cardio can help burn body fat, thus losing weight. You can lose weight by starving yourself or losing muscle because of lack or exercise.

If you are concerned with the fat on your stomach, then I recommend you to do abdominal exercises. Sit ups / crunches / obliques will help you tone your stomach by gaining muscle and losing fat, not necessarily losing weight.

Hope this helps

Toning your muscles can aid in you losing weight. Your muscles generate heat and help burn fat, so the more muslce you have the more fat you burn.
Just losing weight (or just being skinny) without any toning could look a little flabby. Try doing some exercises that concentrate on toning your abdomen. You'll strengthen your stomach muscles and will probably lose a little weight there so the muscles can show better.
