Diet food! I'm so confused!!!!?!

Question: All this different diets are so contractdicting! One say you can eat a certain food and another one says its bad for you. For example, i've been picking on grapes as i tought they 'd be better than choccolate! Now my auntie who is on the slimming world one say they are "free" foods so you can eat them and my friend who goes to weight watchers says they have points as they contain sugar so i shoulndt! Also i heard somewhere that unsalted nuts and seeds are meant to be good to snack on (in moderation) if you are dieting as they contain good fats but someone else told me they are bad for you!! Just out of curiosity, what kind of thing do you snack on when on when trying to loose weight (apart form the obvious fruit)? Or what do you eat on a regular day?

You hit it on the nail when you said all food in moderation don't worry about all those on these fad diets as the don't work if you are health conscious look at the G I diet for healthy living it will inform you better than me!

Stick to 1 diet, ie slimming world or weight watchers as they are both different.

Diets confuse me too so i stick to healthy eating. My daily diet consists of:

Bran flakes for breakkie with skimmed milk at 6am

Apple and cube of cheese at 10am

Chicken & Lettuce with spoonfull of Mayo at 1pm

Apple and cube of cheese at 3pm

Steamed chicken/pork and veg for dinner (serves on tea plate to cut portion size) at 6pm

Little and often and healthy.

The cheese with the apple gives you energy at snack times and they balance each other out and help each other digest.

Hope this helps. I lose 3pds a week on this with a martial arts class on Mon & Wed

I love salsa with cucumbers. I slice the cucumbers and use them instead of nacho chips.

Diets are all a load of crap.

If you want to loose weight you should stop snacking all together, eat three small healthy portions of food each day and go for a run every evening.

Hi,
It is all confusing, but really a balanced diet is key, and everything in moderation.
you certainly can eat a larger volume of food, just choose things that are healthy... fruits and vegs - a VARIETY!!
Eat colorful foods for more nutrients, like red onions, tomatoes, dark green leafy vegs, etc...
avoid processed foods, the closer to nature the better
try veggie burgers - READ nutrition labels for different brands
definitely drink more, and more water
eats lots of fiber, wheat is a great source, but try for whole-grains (as in breads, cereals, etc...), avoid white processed flours in general
beans (kidney, pinto, etc...) are a great source of protein and are also filling
apples are great, try incorporating other fruits for a variety of nutrients
you can learn all about it online, check out the FDA guidelines and start from there. PBS has many healthy cooking programs - see which are available in your viewing area - and check out their websites for tips and recipes.
definitely limit fats, sugars, calories, but remember that some measure of these items are necessary to a balanced and healthy diet. we don't want you to be thin and gorgeous but on the verge of various mineral and vitamin deficiencies which can really hurt you long-term.
so, do a little research on healthy eating, then eat healthy, exercise, drink water, and definitely don't go hungry.
Be healthy and fit!

PS as far as why some foods are bad in one diet and not in another has to do with the theory behind it. Low carb diets limit sugar intake - which comes in various forms as our bodies break down and process the food, so starches (potatoes, flour, rice, etc...) and most fruits (like grapes), etc... are no-no's or very limited for low carb diets.
nuts contain proteins and fats that are good for you, in moderation, because they are also high in fat.
Eat a varied and balanced diet, and everything in moderation, and you will feel and look great

Just eat fresh fruit + veg drink water and most of all exercise! eat what ever you want in moderation has long as you exercise!!
Keep healthy cut down on fat and junk foods and you should be OK. All these diet programmes want is your money because they know some people are desperate to loss weight. USE COMMON SENSE + Good Luck .

Weight watchers and slimming world are completely different. I do slimming world, if I fancy a snack I make up a fresh fruit salad of banana, grapes and pear and pour over a muller light yoghurt as they are basically free of points. If I fancy something savoury I have some cracker bread with marmite.
Eggs are free on slimming world too so I always have a few hard boiled in the fridge for a quick snack too.

hi there,
i am using a site called nutracheck.co.uk.
you get a five day trial ,our own profile, forums for support and a food diary on there ,you add on what you have eaten and it tells you how much you have left to eat in calories and fat intake .
its great so you could see if you can try it.

A lot of diets are fads and are based on very minimal scientific evidence. These are probably the ones that mix the message up.

I aim to eat about 1800 calories a day and snack on fruit if i'm hungry.
