I'm not going to jump straight onto the Subway bandwagon. There are too many variables not mentioned in the question.

If you have red meat, what kind of meat and what cut is it? What are your side dishes?

Here's what I'm getting at. Subway sandwich: refined grains (i.e. simple carbs), extraordinary amounts of sodium, relatively non-nutritive vegetables, processed meats (again, high in sodium and nitrates), and loaded with preservatives. The only thing they really have going for them is that they are low in fat. A 6" "healthy" sub on roasted garlic bread has over 2,000mg of sodium, 45g-60g of "bad carbs", and so many fillers and preservatives, I can't even find ingredients anywhere on the website!

Red meat: This CAN be a good meal. Portion control is the biggie. There's nothing wrong with a 3 oz. portion of a lean, red meat, grilled or broiled (rather than fried), with a salad or other green vegetable and a side of whole grain rice. I'm not telling you to slap a 20 oz ribeye on a plate and call it a healthy meal, but I'd go for a balanced meal of whole foods and minimally-processed meat over a heavily preserved, processed, and nutritionally unbalanced takeout sandwich any day.

subway is the obvious answer

Do a subway roast beef and leave off the mayo. ;)

Subway will be better for you and your body. Not only does it not have almost raw meat, but it will have veggies and bread, which is very good for you.
