1) I went to work out classes 6 times a week plus 1 hour swimming before them for a month (plus decreased portions of food), lost all fat (around 20 pounds) went down to 92. Then once you stop working out you gain a bit of it back... and then most of it if you dont eat healthy.

2) I went to a nutritionist. Without working out AT ALL, and eating healthy I lost around 17 pounds! And I'm still on the diet even though I eat junk food and sweets and havent gained any of it back.

So, if you think you'll keep up exercising then go for it. Its good for your health too (the best ones are step classes and swimming. Dont do machines or weights in my opinion. Instead of working against some weight, work against the weight of your own body, you know. Gives much better results.) But if you think that once you reach your goal you'll give up exercising, then just go to a nutritionist. :)

i'm glad you have the right mindset and aren't looking to starve yourself. healthy eating habits are crucial but exercise is just as important. i can't really help you on classes, but you can always do the various cardio machines such as treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, stairclimbers. etc. i personally like doing a variety of different machines to make sure all muscles are targeted. Make sure you use yours arms when you can such as on the elliptical machine. another thing you can do is walk on a treadmill or track or whatever and carry 1 or 2 lb dumbbells. whatever machines or exercises you do, i recommend recording what speeds/times/resistance you do each week, and then slightly increasing each week to make sure you're improving. good luck!

Hire a personal trainer to run you around the park.
