muscle tissue weighs more than fat tissue so if you've lost fat but gained muscle in its place your scale weight won't budge. muscle typically doesn't grow this fast though so what i would suspect more is the fact that you've been drinking a ton of water. soft drinks, coffee, tea...these are all diuretics which make your body get rid of water and make you dehydrated. now that your body is properly hydrated, it is holding on to more water so it can nourish the cells and help flush toxins and fat from the body. this is where your extra weight is coming from. its nothing to be alarmed at, as it is healthy weight. water weight, bone weight, muscle weight, organ and other tissue weight is considered your lean body mass. this is good. you WANT to keep this if not build up it (muscles i mean) because it will speed up your metabolism. when you are eating unhealthy and not exercising not only do you lose water weight but you lose muscle mass and bone density as well. this is clearly NOT good. with all that said i say KICK THE SCALE! focus more on how you fit in your clothes, how you look in the mirror and how you look in a bathing suit. if you really want to keep track use a tape measure and take measurements of your bicep, thigh, wasit, hips and chest once a month. dropping inches will show that you are dropping fat because even if you put on muscle mass, muscle tissue if very dense and compact so you will end up looking smaller and leaner.

furthermore, "no pain no gain" isn't necessarily correct because there are two types of pain you have to think about when applying this statement. the pain of injury vs. the pain of pushing yourself through the exercise...like "feel the burn" kind of pain that you may feel for a day or two after the workout. this "feel the burn" pain is good and means you are pushing your body enough however some muscles will adapt to this faster than others so you just have to keep at it. the rule of thumb is that you should change something about your exercise routine every 4-6 weeks as thats how long it takes for hte body to fully adapt to your routine, thus you burn less calories than you did in the beginning. you can change up type of exercise, add time, add intensity, add weights, add frequency...ect.

It takes a while for the weight loss to show up. Give it 10 days to 2 weeks. If you eat salty food you could have some water retention. You could still be getting a lot of calories from your food - have you modified your diet? Cut out sweets, fats and fried foods. Eat veggies, fruit, whole grains, and lean meats. Be sure to weigh yourself at about the same time every day, you weigh the least in the morning, usually. Good luck.

There are a number of reasons this could occur. You could be gaining muscle mass. Also, weighing at different times of the day will give you different results because of the undigested food you are carrying around in your gut. Try weighing in the morning after going to the restroom. You may also find that you are eating more since you are expending more energy so make sure you keep your portion sizes in check. Just keep at it and the pounds should start falling off. Good luck!

No pain, no gain refers to working to your max.
When first starting out exercising, you will have muscle soreness. Depending upon how often you use those muscles, and how hard you work it, will determine your soreness.
I don't know what turbo jam is, but you need to cut calories and exercise to lose weight. It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound. It's good to replace the soda/juices with water.

As you continue to work out you have to increase the intensity if you want to "feel the burn" if not your body will get use to the same exercise. It will still help you but no you will not continue to feel sore. Another good thing to replace soda and juice is green tea. It's very good for you and aids in weight loss.

No pain no gain is a stupid way to look at it, see www.humanKinetics.com
As for loosing weight if you do not eat your metabolism just slows down and will make it impossible to loose anything at all.
Weight loss takes time and consistency, a good diet and moderation is the key.

OK, first of all, your weight fluctuates BIG TIME during the day. I can weigh myself in the morning and at night, and usually there's about a 4-5 pound difference from the weigh ins in the morning and night.

Second of all, one workout, you aren't going to suddenly start dropping weight like crazy. You have to be consistent, and not only that but eat healthy as well.

And lastly, no, 2 days sounds normal. I go to the gym every 3 days. That's exactly how much time (2 days) I'm usually sore for after lifting weights.

Some suggestions:

1) Always weigh yourself in the morning as soon as you wake up, naked. STILL keep in mind daily fluctuations will happen, and the scale is not the best way to determine if you are excercising properly. I would recommend weighing yourself once a week if that if you are really hung up about your actual WEIGHT (rather than your body fat % which is what you should pay attention to).

2) Eat right, and excercise EVERY DAY. Your daily excercises every day don't have to be a "turbo jam" or whatever, you can alternate between a hard workout and a light one, but the important thing is to stay active. I've lost 90 lbs now doing the following: 1 day light-moderate activity, then 1 day heavy cardio, 1 day a bit of cardio and weight lifting.

Of course, if you don't eat right, don't bother exercising with the goal of losing weight. Some people can get away with eating whatever they want, but most people aren't that lucky. I'd consult a nutritionist or your doctor if you are really serious.

Good luck!
