Why is it bad to mix Whey protein with milk/dairy?!

Question: I've recently come across a few articles about not mixing whey with milk, could someone explain why?

And when i discovered this i started mixing my whey protein with water, fruit, and ice.. thats it. Is this mixture ok?

Milk is made up of whey and casein as the sources of it's protein composition. Therefore, whey protein is a component of milk. One of the advantages of whey protein is its ability to go through the digestion system very fast and get your muscles fed with protein within half an hour. Casein, the other protein found in milk, digests alot slower. So it could take up to over an hour to get protein to your muscles if you are consuming casein protein (or milk). Hence when you consume whey protein with milk, it is not bad, but it is defeating the purpose of why you would want to take the whey protein: the ability to digest fast.

I do know alot of people who mix whey with milk, b/c they purchase the whey dirt cheap (i.e. 10 lbs. bag of ON whey) and it helps them get the necessary protein for the day. But whey protein should not be mixed with milk right after a workout, the time when your muscles are craving protein and carbs to replenish glycogen stores and initiate protein synthesis.

Huh, I though whey protein actually comes from milk? Therefore I would have no idea why you wouldn't want to mix them together.

gas, bloating, cramps, and constipation, that's why...plus it's not really a good idea to drink milk before a big work out...which is when a lot of people take their supplements.

this mix is fine...clear liquids are best, but fruit juice is fine too..the less sugar the better though.

organic milk...you mean soy?.....*sigh* There are "organic" milks that still contain dairy.

i mix mine with organic milk so it has no dairy. my coach majors in sport science and that's what he suggests. what your doing now with the fruit ice and water is fine too, although i think it tastes better in the organic milk with some nesquik.

That doesn't make much sense, except I would like to mention that pasturized dairy (of which whey falls into this category) is not healthy for you.

Go to http://www.notmilk.com to learn about pasturized dairy and the drawbacks, and to http://www.mercola.com to get raw organic whey protein powder.

Link to those articles? The only thing I can think of is that since people take whey protein to build muscle mass/bulk up then the extra fat in milk is not needed?
