How do I diet and still cook meals for the family without causing them to have t!

Question: I want to start dieting but I have a husband and one year old son... how do I diet and still cook dinner for the family without causing them to have to diet as well and/or be tempted to eat what they're eating? AND dinner is just way too much food for just my husband and little boy if I'm not eating what they are.
My husband refuses to cook and would probably burn down the house anyway. He's 23 and has high cholesterol... so that might give you a hint about his eating habits.
I wanted to just eat soup (like cup-a-soup... only 45 calories per serving), bananas, sweet potatoes, tuna and chicken... but any way that I cook food for myself will be too bland for my husband and I'm sure they don't want to eat the same ol stuff every day. I only plan on doing this along with working out every day for 2 or 3 weeks to see how it works (or doesn't) so it's not a long term thing.

Try keeping a glass of water by you as you cook, and whenever you think about eating whatever they are having, take a drink. That way, you'll be full of water when you sit down to eat your meal, and you'll also eat less. Good luck :)

Cook your food ahead of time, so you can just heat it up,and cook theirs regularly but only cook enough for your husband and your child so that there are no leftovers and you arent tempted to eat them. ? Good luck!

An idea is to serve both "your" and "their" meals made out of the same foods, whenever possible.

You can make a "lite" version of your family's meals by substituting "diet" ingredients in your serving. You might end up using twice as many pots and pans, but isn't family harmony worth it?

Start cooking healthy foods. Serve a nice veggie soup and salad for you and your hubby. Use spices to ehlp with the taste so he doesnt feel deprived. Look in your cookbooks for low fat recipes and start trying them out.

Just try to cook meals that are going to be HEALTHY for your whole family! Think about this - you are wanting to "diet" so that you will be thinner and supposedly healthier, but you are okay with your husband and one year old eating crap that you don't want to eat while you are "dieting." Check here for a place to begin: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/healthy... and think about cooking healthy for your entire family and then choosing to eat controlled portions of healthy lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy so that you will lose weight, lower your husband's cholesterol, and start your baby down the right path of choosing healthy foods on a daily basis.

Theres no harm in having your family eat healthy too, they can just eat bigger portions. Or you can cook somewhat healthy food for your family and you can eat a small portion with fruits.
