I'm very determined and disciplined when it comes to diet and exercise? but !

Question: I'm trying to lose weight, I run, liftweights 5 days a week and eat very healthy 4-6small portioned healthy meals a day.

But sometimes I eat a bunch of crap and it seems like I can't help myself. I intentionally have a cheat meal once a week . but sometimes I will gorge on food at night, last night I ate 5 slices of pizza.
Basicaly I'm asking how can I curb my craving for junk food completly?

Something might be missing from your reg. 4-6 daily meals.

A suggestion...increase your good fats and decrease your carbs.

The fat may satiate you.

Good luck,
Coop

One trick I use is to brush & floss my teeth after my healthy dinner so that I'm not tempted to eat junk even if I stay up really late.

I stopped drinking soda and lost a ton of weight, I don't crave sugar at all anymore. Maybe you should try not having a cheat day for awhile and when you do have a cheat day make sure there is only a limited supply around you so you can't gorge on it =]
The brush and floss idea sounded pretty good to =]

I know when I diet and I don't get enough carbs throughout the day. I get the worst cravings at night and used to do the same as you. Remember that you're lifting weights so carbs are good. It's your body telling you that you're not getting enough. A good website is dailyplate.com. It'll help you keep track of calories and how many are from protein/carb/fats so you can make sure you're getting the wanted amount/day.

Hey Sid,
Sounds like you need to read the book "Body for Life". In it, he talks about how we as humans are somewhat genetically programmed to gorge in eating because 100's of years ago we did not know when our next meal was coming which would make us eat everything in sight. His meal plan and exercise plan is obtainable. Quick summary, you eat healthy and exercise 6 days a week. On the seventh day, you don't exercise and eat all you want. Check that book out.

Get rid of all the junk food in your house. Don't buy groceries when you're hungry... you're less likely to be tempted to buy junk. Have healthy alternatives handy. In short, make it as difficult as possible for you to get junk food.

Make sure you get healthy fats. Replace your vegetable oils with pure unrefined coconut oil (yes it's expensive, but it will increase your metabolism, and make you feel more full). Supplement with fish oil (make sure you get the purified kind without the mercury and toxins).

Cheers,
Trevor
