How can I give up sweets?(I have a sweet-tooth)?!

Question: I was talking to one of my friends over thr phone. He was telling me that he gave up sweets and he feels pure.(also he avegetarian.so that may have something to do with feeling pure..anyway).It got me thinking maybe I should give up sweets too.Seeing as all it is sugar and fats which you don't really need. The issue is I have a sweet tooth.I love candy, cookies, and chocolate. What would you recommend? And how have you tried to quit. Thanks a lot

trade in that processes sugary stuff for fresh fruit!..it's really sweet.. the difference is that fruit has natural sugars that aren't bad for you and they can deffinantely satify a sweet tooth! and dried fruit is even sweeter..and healthy too. :) good luck and remember you can do it if you put your mind to it!..xxoxoxox

the way i TRIED to quit was to keep myself busy so i wouldn't think of them cause when i was bored i would eat but my method didnt work for me.

if you really do have a sweet tooth then tell the dentist to pull it out!

I also have a major sweet tooth and have decided to go on a diet, which unfortunately involves giving up sweets. I got my boyfriend in on it as my food intake probation officer, lol. His job is to simply not let me eat crap. I wanted bacon for breakfast this morning and he just said no. It's simple, and so far, effective :)

All I have to say is good luck b/c that is my weakness as well!

oh girl it is very very very hard! especially if u have friends tht eat candy! omg i gave it up and u know what i did? i ate all the candy tht i loved in one day until i couldnt eat n e more! to the point where i got sick! then the next day i couldnt even think about candy!!!! and tht same day my mom and me went to walmart and they have tht big candy section and when i looked at all the candy i got tht sick feeling and i left tht isle! yes tht sick feeling went away after a few days but after tht i just couldnt eat candy! and now im candy free! ur friend is right! it does make u feel pure!

hi iam ashlee iam 17 and iam a diabetic sence i was 6 umm the only thing i can say is try sugar free thingd lil candys and stuff ...... or find somthin you like thats not fating like yogart or somthin and wen you feel the urge for sweetness try to eat that....

Eat fruit! They're naturally sweet. :p

Especially green apples and berries. Yumyum!

Just stop eating them, i dont know. Substitute it with something else you like?

if your young, i suggest stop spending ur pocket money.

the less money u have, the better chance of u not getting what u want, eventually u will learn to deal with it.

trust me.... :)

There's a variety of answers for this. Basically, the key is moderation. It's okay to indulge once in a while, but not all the time. Taking breaks throughout the day to exercise may also help, and make you think twice about grabbing that bag of gummy bears.

My first thought would be to figure out what situations make you MOST vulnerable to eat candy (working at a desk for 8 hours, stress, etc). Do you keep candy in easy reach? If so, just have a small amount on your desk and place the rest WAY out of reach. When that amount is gone from your desk--it's gone for the rest of the work day. The same goes for at home.

Another thing to learn is riding out the craving wave. This is REALLY hard, but well worth it. My weakness is chips and dip. Sometimes, I get this huge craving, but if I occupy myself with something else or quickly walk past the junk food isles at the store, the craving subsides. I still might get a bag of chips, but it will probably be a small bag for $1 (or less), which is a lot cheaper than the large bag.

Think about the junk food and how much it's eating up your food budget each week. No one wants to see a big dent in their check books from stuff that they really didn't need. However, you can reward yourself by putting the money that you would normally spend towards something that you're wanting to save for.

For me, I have dramatically cut back on the amount of money I spend on junk food. This is simply because I can't afford it. I don't make enough at work to buy large bags of chips and boxes of cookies on a regular basis. Plus,I don't like the feeling of having a sugar overload that I sometimes get if my eating has been really wonky. Those thoughts alone help me curb my cravings.

If you are wanting a decent substitute for total junk food sugar, consider trying some the "smooshed fruit leathers." They are SUPER tasty, have sugar, but it's all natural. Since it's a "leather,"you can savor the taste in your mouth a lot longer compared to other junk food. They are expensive, but well worth it! You can also try some super sweet fruits such as clemintines, navel oranges, berries mixed with yogurt, or any other types of fruit that strike your taste buds.
