Running equivalent?!


Question: I usually run 30 minutes or more a day but I currently have a cold and I still want to get my exercise in for the day. About how long should I walk on a treadmill to get the same benefit as running?

you can still achieve a similar caloric burn in about the same amount of time on a treadmill as long as you mix up speeds and inclines. start out with a 3-5minute warm up pace then every couple of minutes go fast, then go slow, then go uphill, then flat...ect. if you just feel like straight up walking and aren't well enough to mix it up then do an hour of moderate paced walking to burn the same amount of calories as you would in a 30min run.

Walking actuall burns more fat than running. This was proven on the one show a few months ago...
Theoretically. if you walked on the treadmill for half an hour in quite lare steps then you will burn more calories. if you breathe deeply it also helps.
