If the child is healthy, taking more vitamins probably won't hurt, but there should be no reason to. Many vitamins are fat soluble while others are water soluble. The fat soluble vitamins are used by the body and any extra is stored in the body, whereas water soluble vitamins are used and any excess is discarded by the body daily. Taking too many vitamins could result in having excess vitamins stored in the fatty tissue.

no in fact older kids should take more than 1

It shouldn't do any harm with just one extra vitamin. But if he/she took a lot more, then it would definitely dangerous.

No. The RDA for vitamins is not the maximum allowed to take in each day, it is what is recommended as a baseline for good health. Taking two is not a mega-dose of vitamins and is not harmful.

No, the body will expell any unneeded vitamins and minerals. Vitamins arent made to be right for every person but our bodies are made to absorb the nutrients it needs and store or release the ones it doesnt need.
