Can you workout to much or to long?!

Question: My workout routine is mostly cardio 1 1/2 - 2 hours and then I lift for about 30 mins. I do this 4 or 5 times a week. In warmer weather I am on the bike for 2 hours. I never lose more than a pound or two in a week and I would say that my diet is around 1,250 a day. I could still stand to lose about ten pounds. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. Should I lift more or run harder?

man are you crazy dude? Working out for that long.. you're clearly over exerting your body, it's good to work out your heart, but sheesh that's an insane amount of time being done on just cardio. The reason you're not losing weight is because you're not giving your body time to heal.

How old are you if your not under 35 your over exerting yourself.

And it would be more beneficial to do 30min to an hour a day rather than 5 days a week. Your metabolism needs a constant push and exercise will do that.

When you exercise, you 'damage' your muscles. When they heal, they become bigger and stronger. However, if you exercise continually, your muscles never get a chance to heal - you are constantly damaging your muscles, but never giving them a chance to repair. Exercise less, no more than 3 times a week, give your muscles time to strengthen, and don't do 2/3 hours at a time - have a 15 minute break in the middle.

If this doesn't work, check your diet - you could be intolerant to something in your food which makes you put on weight and whilst that food is still in your diet, you'll never lose weight no matter how much you exercise
