Please help - is this enough to lose weight?!

Question: I walk on the treadmill every day for half an hour (speed 5.5 km/h) and then run for 5 minutes (7.5 km/h). I do 25 sit-ups evereday too. Also I cut down on junk food, sodas, drink lots of water and try to eat as much fruit and veg as i can. I allow myself a couple of bites of chocolate every day and on Sundays I eat what I want. Can I lose weight this way or should I do more?
My problem area is my butt, my thighs and my belly.

I am 21, 160 cm, 52 kg.

Don't listen to those people who say to cut down the chocolate AND the sunday cheat day, they're wrong!!!
Since you're already on a healthy weight and just need to lose A BIT and tone up(Hope you're not planning to lose more than 5kg)you WILL lose weight in no time and if after you've lost the weight you continue eating healthy and don't have fast-foods often(not more than once a week),you'll keep it off, even if you don't exercise anymore!
Good luck

You have to cut out the sunday binge.

If you do that for about a month or so you should see a great difference with how you look.

Depends, if you weren't exercising before. Sure, just kinda try and watch what you eat on Sunday.

GETTING INTO SHAPE IS NOT SOMETHING YOU "DO", ITS SOMETHING YOU "BECOME".

If you think you gonna do a little shopping list of 5 minutes of this and10 minutes of that for a couple of weeks and get the body of your dreams, you WILL fail.
However, if you change your habits in a permanent and sustainable way, FOREVER, then you will get healthier and, as a side effect of this, you might, MIGHT, loose weight.

Were you doing this before? have u changed your habits? KEEP IT UP and eventualy you'll see results, guaranteed.
As for you bum an thighs, You genes determine where the fat sets in, so you will have to lose body as a whole, so "problem areas" are a myth. To be honest, reading your question I seriously question your determination and ask myself whether you're just wasting your time. Read about nutrition and forget about "shortcuts". Read from scientifc sources and dont trust "tricks" and "tips" from geniouses like Angel, and i quote "get a healthy diet with your GPs permission" ... priceless

you'll lose weight, might be a little slow though.

If you want to lose quicker, you should be able to do a little more.

Yes of course but I would recommend you to hae a healthy diet with a doctor's permission

running for five minutes isn't going to do anything, you need to be running for at least 30 minutes every day. and you need to continue your diet on sundays and don't eat chocolate every day. you should also be drinking half of your body weight in water, every day.

*edit: yes that is A LOT of chocolate to be eating every day!

Just relax sleep well (8 hours at least it's highly important that you'll sleep well)
and keep doing cardiovascular work outs :)
Though I would recommend to cut a bit with the chocolate it's unhealthy sugar.

You need to walk more, run more, do more sit ups, and vary your routine so you're not working the same muscles everyday.

Be careful eating so much fruit. They are very good for you but can also be very high in sugar.

The way you loose weight is to burn off more calories daily than what you have taken in.

At 52 kg you are just not heavy for someone of your height/ age. Are you sure you are not obsessive about your shape. Anyway your excercise regime sounds good.

Cut out the chocolate & eating whatever you want on Sunday. You need consistency in your diet or you will be going back & forth - taking you that much longer to lose the weight.

Cut out all sugar, white flour products, junk food, soda, etc.
Eat low fat poultry, fish, whole grains, veggies, fruit, etc.

Good Luck!

Of course this is enough to lose weight, why would you want to lose weight though? you sound like you might need to talk to somebody, Youre only 52 kgs. There is such a thing as getting addicted to excersize. Be very careful.

go to weight watchers .com there site is amazing they have there own food you can buy in the store. This is the best feature they have a thing that you type in what food you ate an it tells you how many points it was an your only allowed so many points a day. Still keep excrising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are going to want to find out your heart rate! Check it once you have not been moving and wright it down. Then you will want to elevate this rate by atleast 20 to 30 bpm for 30 minutes at a time, 3 times a week. Find out how many calories you take in and stay away from the transy-fats. It will take up to 6 weeks to "see" any improvement but you should start to "feel" different immediately. Remember, it is a lifestyle not a diet. I watch my diet all week and on the weekend I eat what I want, and work out 5 times a week. The cool part is after a little while you don't crave the things that are soo bad for you anymore.

You seem to be doing everything right. Just watch what you eat on sunday. Everything in moderation. Stick with what you're doing!

it depends on how much you want to loose weight - if the answer is "a lot" then i agree with the other answer and theres no point in torturing yourself all week the takin a couple steps backwards on sundays. i use the word torture because it doesnt sound like you enjoy your new lifestyle, hance the binge? but i might be wrong about that. best thing to do is cardio work, to burn the fat. as for the sit ups you're building muscle more than burning fat so that'll make you gain weight if anything, which could be good or bad depending on your goals. if you only got that half hour, more jogging, less walking.
and i just noticed you said "cut down" meaning you still eat that crap?......

end the sunday binge, eat what you used to eat but 1/2 the amount... smaller portions stomach shrinks and requires less to fill up,
when you binge on sunday you stretch your stomach back out... Drink lots of water, my doctor told me that water is a natural source that flushes out fat from our system.
remember smaller amounts.....

Slimfast and Wendy's salads and plenty of exercise.

it could, but if ya want to get better results you should intensivefy you work out each week.
doing this may even surpress ya apetite a little more each week. Also as you lose weight and gain a little toned muscle the muscle will increase ya motabolism burning fat quicker

p.s ya should'nt binge because i bet you feel like you havent worked out all week(i use to do it)and also its easier to let it slip into the week. eat smaller portions

Depends what you mean by sunday binge. Thats like saying i can drink all this alchole tonight becuase i hav'nt drunk any for ages think of it that way. It doesnt hurt in moderation but if you have a binge it will have an effect.

maybe cut back a little on the sunday. eat what you want-but within reason. also cut down on the chocolate!! i would say 1-2 pieces max per day!!! or try a healthier alternative like ice cream (still not great but better!!!). Also for your walking and running maybe change it to 25 minutes walking at 6km/h then run for 10 minutes at 8km/h. follow these tips and you will lose A LOT more than your original plan. stick to it and the pounds will drop off!

woooah! 52 kgs!!! woman!, you weigh as much as me!
and im 14!!
you dont need to loose weight!

but, dont diet, it should be a lifestlye instead, dont eat icecream or chocolate everyday, youll soon learn to live without it and wont crave it,
and dont eat whatever you want on sundays, you will end up bimging! sand putting on all the weight you lost!!

to maintain your current weight you should et 2000kcals per day. so to lose weight you need to restrict this to 1500kcals. but make sure you eat no less than 1500kcals as this will slow your metabolism & you won't lose anything.

i would recommend a class called body pump - this uses weights to tone you up & burn lots of calories (www.lesmills.com) - give your local gym a call to see if they run it. i did this class twice a week & could see big difference fast!!

if you are restricting your diet it's also a good idea to take a multivitamin to ensure you are getting all your vital nutrients.

if you cut your cals back to 1500 per day & do exercise 2-3 times per week you will lose 1-3lbs per week easily.

drink plently of water, try & increase the amount of fruit & veg you eat & swap white bread for brown bread, full cream milk to skimmed milk etc.

This site offers a free E-book on how to lose weight. It's been a great help for me, maybe it can help you as well?
