How can I lose 1 pound a week safe?I am 5'3 12 years old and 137 pounds.?!

Question: Well since you are only 12 and probably pre-puberty; this may be baby fat so dont be too concerned with the standards for your height cuz those are based around adults. I would check with your doctor before going on any diet but basically in order to lose a pound a week you have to eat 500 less calories a day, so you count the calories in everything you eat in a typical day and then take away something or things worth 500 calories. And dont forget to exercise its fun and will help. If you are having trouble knowing how many calories are in the things you eat there are websites for that (one is the daily plate.com) but again dont go crazy or get obsessed; you are just a child, so you dont want to end up being obsessed with being thin, I sorta am and it sucks and I have always been very small. So talk to a professional before you do anything; feeling fat and having poor self esteem are psychological disorders and if you feel you are preoccupied with this stuff, seek help froma therapist, Good luck.

try weight watchers

Cut out "white" things like non wheat breads and sugar. Just that will help a LOT! Don't go full no carb at your age, you need some carbs, but no one needs white bread or processed sugars

You're WAY too young to think about dieting! Get out, have fun, go swimming, play basketball, etc. if you think you're getting a little chubby.

Cut out eating snacks. Occassional snacks are fine, but just avoid eating them every day. Exercise 3 times a week for 20 minutes at a time. Drink 64 oz. of water each day.

Don't drink your calories (in other words, no cokes, sweetened coffee, fruit juice, etc)... and DON'T drink diet soda... not only is it loaded with chemicals, it can make you feel hungrier. Also, drink lots of water, it'll flush your system. Other than that, just cut back on carbs and portions and one pound a week should be reasonable.

Whoa, if you're 12 years old, you do not need to be losing weight that way. Just eat healthy and excercise regularly and everything will just work out. Especially at your age. This is a vital time in your growth process and you can not be messing with it by trying to lose a pound a week. Also, trust me -- you have the rest of your life to worry about your weight. So get out and have fun while you still can.

Don't TRY to lose weight. Just start heating healthier and exercise more and it'll happen. Besides you really don't want to lose much.

Cut back on your calorie intake and increase your calorie burn by doing exercise every other day. Even walking for at least a mile each day along with cutting calorie intake will do it easily. Also stay away from sweets and junk food. Drink lots of water.

i myself am a teen who needs to lose weight and i have one two success points that helped me drop 15 pounds in 2 weeks without trying to hard and i am still droppin. Join a sport team something with lots of running like soccer or basketball, and watch what you eat, More whole grain and salad and less red meats like pork, beef, and lamb. And don't eat sweets except for once a week and only a little of it.

sweetheart at twelve you need not worry about losing that weight so much as maintaining a good diet, your body is in its most fragile stage of growth and needs propper nourishment if you just eat healthy foods in moderation and try to do 30 minutes to an hour of physical activity a day you'll find you will have much healthier results than trying some type of fad diet

OKAY CUT BACK 250 CALORIES AND BURN 250 CALORIES EACH DAY.

I BET U LOOK FINE JUST THE WAY U ARE.. JUST ENJOY URSELF THE WEIGHT WILL COME DOWN.... UR ONLY 12... IF U COULD LOSE UR WATER WEIGHT U WILL BE OK... USUALLY THE FIRST 10 POUNDS IS WATER.... A POUND A WEEK IS SAFE.

I agree with what a lot of people are saying to you. You don't need to be thinking about losing weight. If you need to make changes to be healthy, do that. Go out and play! If there's snow where you are, go sledding or skating or snowboarding. If it's warm, play soccer or basketball, or do some gymnastics. Turn on your favorite music and dance around. As far as eating, think about the things on the food pyramid. What do you need to eat to feel good and be healthy? If you come home from school and have a choice for a snack between an apple and a candy bar, choose the apple most days, but every once in a while choose the candy bar. Do what makes you feel good, and don't worry about losing weight!
