Y DO PPL ON Y!A SAY THIS?!

Because the people on Y!A aren't doctors so they don't know anything about weight.

they say this because they are insecure about themselves

They're insane.
They want people in America or whatever to become obease.

Because people are so afraid of teenages not knowing their body, of going down a slippery slope of anorexia or bulimia that they down play the reality. Some teenages need to lose weight. There is a healthy weight ranges no matter your age or height.
However sometimes someone is in that healthy range and think they need to be thin like Heidi Klum.

Because rather than being blunt and to the point, they are trying to sugarcoat things. And if they are bigger than the person asking, of course they are going to say that they would love to weigh that much...

because like u said they r kids and teens and at that age they think they know everything This is a age in time where that's about all talk shows talk about and all the reality shows that focus on this point so.....

i think it has a lot to do with the person's age.
You can't tell a 10 year old that they are fat, and to lose weight. That should be the parents reinforcing good eating and excercize habits, not diets.

It has a lot to do with BMI, and not just height/weight.

Also, if all the people who answered are enormously fat, then they aren't going to tell someone to lose weight.

Stretch marks and celulite don't mean you are fat.

People will answer inappropriately primarily because their knowledge base is not up to answering the question correctly but it is what they believe to be correct.

There is not a problem with that, its just as we move through our time on this earth we gain more and more information, it could also be that they are passing on similar knowledge that was given to them when they asked a question.

There are genuine people on this site who wish to pass on information or knowledge that is both appropriate and correct and for which they have legitimate knowledge or skill to do so. Reason for know your source.

There are others who feel the can help and want to pass on their information. This may be appropriate or not as the case may be. These people have a genuine desire to help even though it may not really answer the question correctly.

You then have the wooden tops who litter the site with inappropriate comments and profanities on the belief that they are being funny.

There are ares that (I would use the word) children should not be answering questions in or if they do they should declare that's who they are, and their answer is what they believe to be correct.

You also have a responsibility on the part of the person who is asking the question, they should filter out rubbish and what is genuine. Here though accepting a reply means that the questioner has a responsibility to accept or act upon the answer knowing the answer could be incorrect.

People say that because that's their opinion. Unless the person is in a specific situation then there is no real way to tell what someone should do or don't do. But there are people that want to loose weight and shouldn't. Its a mixed bag.
