What keeps you motivated to live a healthy lifestyle?!

Question: I love to eat healthy and exercise, but some days it is just so hard to choose an apple over a cookie or taking a walk over laying on the couch. I know most people have this problem, but I would like to know any motivational tips or secrets you have when it comes to make good decisions in regards to healthy eating and exercising.

I used to compete in body building and strong man contests the over all goal in both made me keep going, since I have retired from most of that at this time in my life, I do it becasue I know its great for my well being and over all health. I do have one cheet meal a week but get back on the horse the next day. Living longer without health issues is my main goal now. Feeling good about myself in my clothes or when I look in the mirrior really starts the day off in a positive way as well.

I allow myself to cheat every now and then. Life is not worth living if you are ALWAYS counting calories...

i eat w/e hah im so skinny weigh like 150 (fast matabolism) but yeah once in a while id eat fruit here n there or something...sorry i dont have the problem tht most people have

I try for balance. I will eat fruit but I also like Oreos so I will have 2 every other day. I find I don't overeat if I know I can 2 cookies every so often. I don't like the 100 calorie packs cause they don't look or taste like the 'real thing'.

I work out, run, play sports, eat healthy, and stay in overall good shape. I also groom well, dress well, and really try to look and feel good at all times. My motivation is women, I always want attention of the ladies. I also enjoy the female companionship, and being healthy and looking good is essential. Without women I'd have much less motivation, and anyone who says the opposite sex (or same sex 10% of the time) doesn't motivate them is either lying or has given up.

Check out photos of people on the internet who have the kind of body you are striving for. Look at their fat free midsections. It takes lots of will power to stick to a diet. You might do what I do, be strict for 2 or 3 days at a time, then have a day where you loosen up a little. Then go back to the strict diet. Good luck!

I agree with what another responder said that it's ok to cheat now and again. I'm at the point where I just really enjoy moving and working out. I have a desk/pc job so I'd rather work out then veg. I feel that I do enough of that at work.
Don't give yourself the option of skipping out or one piece of advice I've received is to try to do at least 10 minutes and if you can't get into it then it's ok to stop because at least you tried. Some days it's just not worth it if you may risk injury.

As for a cookie or an apple, maybe have 1 cookie and 1/2 an apple? If you limit your treats then you will enjoy them that much more. Eat slowly. Savor each bite. That's something that I try to do.
