Here are six simple tips that will have you losing weight in a balanced and healthy way.

1. Lose weight with water.
Water is essential for everybody - it is also the key to losing weight. If you haven't been drinking enough water, your body has developed a pattern of storing water. This water retention equals extra unwanted weight.

By drinking more water, you are not only flushing out toxins, you are also teaching your body that it no longer needs to store water. Drink at least 60 ounces of water (about 8 glasses) a day. Boil water and sliced lemons, and drink this throughout the day to help with fluid retention. If you are still not sold on the merits of water, try this on for size: water is a natural appetite suppressant.

2. Soup up your weight loss program.
A simple dietary change will have you shedding pounds: eat a bowl of soup at least once a day. Nutritious, low-salt soups will nourish you as they flush waste from your body. People who eat a serving of soup daily lose more weight than those who eat the same amount of calories but don't eat soup. Go for homemade soup whenever possible, as canned soups are loaded with salt and chemicals.

3. Eat early to keep weight off.
The human body follows a circadian rhythm, which means that the same foods eaten at breakfast and lunch are processed differently than when eaten at dinner. Studies show that when you eat your daily protein and fat at breakfast you tend to lose weight and have more energy; however, eating the same things at dinner tend to increase tendencies toward weight gain. I suggest that you eat your last meal of the day by 7 p.m.

4. Eat smaller meals, more frequently.
Follow an eating schedule with five little meals every day. Eating steadily through the day keeps you from becoming famished and overeating at your next meal. Make a low-fat trail mix from raw almonds, pumpkin seeds, dried plum, and apples and have it available at all times to avoid the tempting lure of high-calorie snacks.

5. Adopt a balanced approach to your diet.
Most of the fad diet programs out there nowadays are extreme in a few recommended foods, or else deprive the body of food altogether. This works in opposition to our metabolism and the results usually don't last, producing a yoyo effect that depresses your metabolic function - not to mention your self-esteem. We are natural beings that need a balance of nutrition from all sources.

Your diet should consist of a balance of organic sources of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Instead of white rice and pasta, opt for brown rice, bulgur, millet, or buckwheat.

Eat more green, chlorophyll-rich foods such as broccoli, kale, spinach, and asparagus. Eliminate candy, sugar, soda, and all simple sugars from your diet. Excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain. Also, keep dairy to a minimum because most dairy products are high in saturated fat. Avoid fatty foods, processed or fried foods.

6. Walk off the weight.
The No. 1 cause of weight gain is inactivity. Physical activity is the key to speeding up your metabolism and burning excess calories. The best way to be physically active is to use your legs! Walk as often and as long as you can. Always take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Step outside during your break at work and take a walk around your building. Consider joining a local hiking club. Try taking a walk 30 minutes in the morning or 30 minutes in the early evening.

gaining/losing weight at such a fast rate [5 days] isnt good for you at all.

gym - healthy eating - patience

youll be back to your old self in no time at all

:o)

ive dun it and it wrks but not a gd idea it make ya ill so ye ur being a REEEEEEEEEEEEEEtard

i dont think it works that easy, it would slow down your metabolism because your not eatting... yeah yeah i'm sure you know but for 5 days it would only make you lose weight because no food is in your digestive system. i'm not saying you should do it for longer im saying that you shouldnt. losing it like that will make it harder to keep it off, mine as well do it the other way and dont worry about it so much. you will lose the weight again this is no big deal exspecially if your eatting healthy. this same thing happend to me when i was on medicine that made me gain weight.

Eating like a pig for 5 weeks is not the end of the world. Get back to a normal routine of eating healthy and exercise and you'll be back to normal soon. Starving yourself will not make you lose weight faster after only 5 weeks of poor behavior.

Good luck sweetie.

well. actually it is unhealthy but it works but i wouldn't starve for that many days straight, i would skip like one and eat a little , something like that, because exercising when you starve yourself is worse on your body but because your body can feed off your fat for a little while, but exercising just eats it away way faster.if you want to be skinny fast starve for a day or two eat some then starve for a day and eat some so your body's getting enough to NOT be unhealthy but the pounds come off.

they altleast did for me.

You will end up putting the weight back on if you lose it quickly, By starving your body, you will lose weight, and your body will take all the nutrients it needs from other parts of your body and you may just get sick.

You would lose weight this way but like you've said in your question, "i'm not going to continue starving myself afterwards" - your body will crave the food and when you start eating more food again, you'll gain the weight quicker. Also, because you're losing it quickly, your body will respond by almost preparing for fasting, and you can actually gain weight as the body will store fat almost like "emergency" fat. By all means eat less and drink plenty of water and don't snack on fatty foods, eat less carbs/cals, and check fat contents before eating. This way, you'll lose weight very quickly but also you're still eating instead of starving yourself. If you're going to deprive your body of essential vitamins etc, I would definitely advise you to make sure you take some vitamins so that you're body stays as healthy as possible.

To the people who say it's not a good idea, they wouldn't know. Don't starve yourself just cut back ALOT and you will notice changes quickly. When your happy just eat healthy and excerise. This will not make you become anorexic because anorexic is a disease which a person THINKs they're fat and you know you aren't.

Just dont eat for the sake of it and only eat when you get hungry.

If you look at what happens to you after you have been on a health fast or something (or even after recovering from a stomach bug where you didn't eat anything for days) you'll see that the weight comes back faster than you can take it off as soon as you are eating normally (not pigging out).

The best way is as other responders have said - take the weight off slowly at 1lb or 2 a week and you'll be (healthily) back to normal in no time and more important, won't have 5 days of feeling terrible. Life's too short for that...

lol yes you are being retarded to put it bluntly... basically you have to understand firstly starving yourself isnt good for many reasons the first is the most obvious, you not only starve your body of food but much needed nutirents and minerals for basic functions, you'll find yourself tired nauseus and feel sick, also the other thing is that it ont be effective. Your body will have a counter reaction once you start to eat as it has been starved it will over compensate and try to hold as much fat/carb and nutrient value from all the food you eat so infact you will just put the weight on and like in most cases you will actually find the body over compensating and putting extra weight on that you didnt have.

Your best bet is to go back to your original diet of smaller portioned food eaten more reguarly your body will adjust as the weight put on is only temp. and will be easy to drop, dont think it will happen in a week but more like 2-3weeks but it will be much healthier and long term in comparison to a quick fix with negatove results.

Try incorporating some light exercise that you can do at home or in a park (light cardio like jogging) you'll find it easier to do and it wont make you lose motivation as much as starving and killing yourself exercising (which you ont have the energy for to burn efficient calories anyway without fuelling your body)

good luck

Yeah, it seems like a good idea at the time, I tried the starvation thing, I ended up putting on 5 kilo's, I think thats 10lbs, so not a good idea, I think your body just goes into starvation mode and wont drop any weight or you slow your metabolism or something. I'm down to the weight I want now because I just went back to eating normally, which is usually healthy food and enough to not be starving all the time. I picked up on the exercise too, just went for 30 to 45 mins walk every day and the weight came off really quick, and there was no starving involved and nothing too drastic either. Starving either doesnt work or it gives you a temporary fix which doesnt last very long and will probably make you fatter in the long run.

No no no no no !! Do not do this please. What will happen if you starve yourself is that your body goes into said "starvation mode" where it feeds off of all the fats that your body has stored up anyway, so you wouldn't lose any weight but your body would get all mixed up and you'd likely faint if you tried to exercise. Try healthy eating, exercising regularly and see how that goes. Lulu x

don't starve! If you lose weight via starving it will be due to muscle catabolism(your body will break down muscle for energy). what you need instead is for your body to use up all the stored fat and so you'll end up with a toned body. Drink 2-4liters of water a day. Your liver converts fat into energy and can only do this if your kidneys are functioning properly for which constant hydration is required. instead of drinking it all in one go keep having a glass every now and then. eat 6 small meals a day. they should include nuts, egg whites, low fat dairy products, lean meats, 3 tbs natural peanut butter, fresh fruits, vegetables, whole wheat bread and brown rice. try using olive oil but no more than 3 tbs a day. the difference between you and a pig is that you can rationalize before putting something into your mouth. so do just that! try eating leafy green vegetables. the best tip is to keep a bowl of fresh sprouts in the fridge and every time your hungry(in between the 6 small meals) grab a hand full and eat it and wash it down with a glass of water. don't forget to include oats in your breakfast. throw in a little exercise(walk for thirty minutes or even little things like take the stairs and walk instead of taking a cab for short distances) and you'll be fitter than u ever were before the pig in you surfaced! another little tip beofre i go...try cutting down on salt and instead of using commercial salad dressing try just using lime and pepper. if your going to starve then you might as well cook meals and give it to homeless folks who can't afford a meal and maybe God will gift you with a healthy body!

you will probably get very hungry if you do that coursing you to suddenly pig out in everything that's in your reach after a day or so. i would go with only eating 3 meals a day and plenty of water. also try to do an hour of exercising like jogging a few miles everyday

hope i helped
