Atkins diet plan .. any tips .. food ideas>?!

Question: Atkins is so not a good idea. I tried it and did lose but as soon as you start eating regularly again, the weight comes right back. You really have to exercise and eat moderately to lose for the long term. I have found a much better diet with really amazing results. The 6 week makeover diet is great. You can lose up to 25 - 30 pounds is six weeks. You do have to prepare your food but you are eating up to six meals a day and exercising and toning. (I've lost over 10 pounds so far).

The person who designed this plan, Michael Thurmond, is the fitness expert on the "Extreme Makover" program.

There are also games on the website (New Body University) where you go to "college", are assigned a dorm, and have group accountability.

The website is www.provida.com. Check it out. Much better than Atkins.

The best tip I can give you is to forget about the Atkins plan and get on a healthy diet like the Fuhrman or McDougall diet:

I tried the Atkins diet by the book, I'm not sure if it was caffiene withdrawals or what that first week but I had chills and felt really sick, I figured if I felt that bad it would be hard to stick with it so I modified it a bit, I switched to half the caff coffee and just tried to keep my carbs under 30 a day, I lost 20 lbs it was slow about 6 months but I kept it off and now I pretty much eat that way all the time with a few treats every now and then but I have no cravings for junkie stuff

If you do go ahead with Atkin's and I don't recommend it at all, please get your cholesterol levels checked while on it. That diet can do brutal things to your cholesterol. Do something else, because as you stop the diet, you balloon right back up. Do things in moderation eat your fair share of fats, proteins, and carbs, just in more moderate portions. Or choose a more healthy diet. Weight watchers seems to work for some people. Good luck.
