I started around 15. I'm 34 now and no joint issues. Just step into it slowly and stay off the juice.

around 16 or older

With the proper precautions, it's generally safe for teens to strength train. Start out slowly to give your body time to get used to lifting, and make sure there's someone there to supervise when you're working out. Before training or weight lifting you also should ask a physical education instructor, coach, or fitness trainer for advice on how often and how much to lift.Because you're still growing, it's easy to overdo it and strain or damage your bones, joints, and tendons.( it happened to me If you're working out and something doesn't feel right just get checked.

Good luck!! :)

When we are young we want to be big and strong. When we are older we want to be able to loose all that weight. You will come into your own. Be active play sports and go to the gym for the right reasons. Working out too early will inhibit your bones from growing as the newly developed muscles and tendons tighten on joints and growth

There isn't a standard for what age to start. A lot of gyms won't let children in under the age of 12. There are some precautions to take when lifting as an adolescent. First of the appropriate diet needs to be taking place. Because the body is still growing and developing at a young age the calories and protein needs to be with in a healthy range. You are also at an increased risk for strains, and other injuries because of growth. It is a good idea to hire someone who is educated in adolescent weight training to get him/her on the correct path.

I am 54 years old. I use to lift weights years ago, and quit: now i have started back, and it feels great. I know many people that start late in life and the results are great. Go for it!!!! you won't regret it. God bless
