Here is how i tone my abs
MY ROUTINE:
20 regular crunches
20 left oblique crunches
20 regular crunches
20 right obliuqe crunches
20 regular crunches
Then I do something called Scuba Steves
Which iis were you lay flat on your back (with your hands under you buttocks) and you "flutter" or kick your legs while they are 6 inches off the ground. And Remember You cannot put your feet in the ground. Do these for about 40 seconds a set and do sbout 4-5 sets
Then I doanother thing called Superman
which are when you lay on your tummy and you lift your arms and legs up 2-5 inches off the ground. Do this for about 30 seconds aset. and do 3 sets
Finish off with 25 regular crunches

try doing leg lifts, if you want the lower ab section.

Crunches with your legs elevated, but only elevated a few inches, i believe.

Here is a nice page that details crunches, leg lifts and other alternatives for your abs:

Good Luck!

try some pilates

Do 8 minute abs, its old but it is by far the best abdominl routine ever made, do it nightly and you'll see results in weeks, and in my opinion its a huge turn on when a girl has tone abs

This is a yoga move, but it works fo sho.
lay down on the floor ( back is completely level with the ground) and lift the legs ( not the back) all the way up at a 90 degree angle, and slowly lower them back down to the ground without touching it. do reps of this, and you will feel the burn!

A common misconception is that the abdominal region can be slimmed by specific abdominal exercises.
The only way to get rid of fat in this area is cardiovascular exercise. Try running, bycicle, or anything else that raises your heart rate. Look into varying intensity cardio workouts, where you train with varying degrees of intensity for each session.

Belly dancing works for me... sign up for a class or get a video. Aerobic motions, and things basically to burn fat, I'm sure you have lots of muscle under there.

half sit ups and leg lifts(where u stand up and pull your knee to your chest)hope it helps, worked wonders for me

I lay on my back and lift my legs up slowly until they're straight up in the air and then I lower them again slowly. I do about 15 reps. When you really get good, don't let your heels touch the ground when you lower your legs. Just go a few inches from the ground and lift them again.

It seems to work for me. I had a c-section so I need all the lower-ab exercise I can get.

I'm a kinesiology major so maybe I can help. In response to one of the answers, raising your legs actually works your upper abs. Leg lifts will certainly work your lower abs, but I would also try doing sit ups on a declined bench so that your lower body is elevated. You will really feel the burn on that one.... very effective.

First, increase your cardio. I totally HATE running but it's the only way to burn away that stubborn "pinch" below the belly button. Anyways, sit on the very edge of a bench at the gym. Lean back slightly (from the hips), and bring your legs towards your body. It targets the lower abs perfectly! AND, try laying on the bench, w/ your butt almost hanging over the edge, legs straight up, and lift your butt up slightly. Imagine you're trying to put your feet flat on the ceiling.

hope this helps!
