1. Whole wheat, never white and enriched. This includes rice and pasta.
2. Non-processed like fresh vegetables and fruits.
3. You are a growing boy, eat protein. It builds muscle.
4. Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day.
5. Fiber is your friend. It makes you healthy, and keeps your system at optimum levels. 2 stalks of celery and whole wheat foods will do it.
6. Use your intelligence, like you know chips, sugary soda, and candy bars and ice-cream are a bad idea.
7. exercise is a must, cardio and strength. Muscle will replace fat and make you look fitter, sooner.

As a teen, even if you need to lose weight, you still need to provide enough nutrition for your body to grow muscle and bone. Expecially as a male, the muscle mass that you build now will help you keep a healthy weight over your whole life.

Don't skip proteins - any meat, chicken, fish, or shellfish, and eggs.

Don't skip your veggies - pick the ones that are green and brightly colored, and take a pass on taters, corn, rice, and pasta.

Enjoy your fruit - again, choose the bright ones.

Don't eat foods that are highly processed. Eat as close to how Nature made the food!

Lastly, lay off the soft drinks, or limit yourself to one per day, sugar-free. Otherwise, drink milk or water - no juice, which is only liquid candy.

Good luck!!

Avoid junk food as much as possible. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Most of the calories should come from carbohydrates. Hence cereals and grains should provide most of the calories. Do not consume too much of dairy products. Cut down on canned foods. Food additives are supposed to cause behavioral problems.

Exercise regularly.
