Running vs. walking -- which will give me a leaner physique?!

Question: For example, running 5 miles or walking 5 miles, they will both help me lose the same amount of weight, right? And which will give me a leaner physique? I've heard running makes your legs much bulkier than walking does..but I don't know which one is better for you in the long run (no pun intended, sorry!), etc....help?

no running burns more calories than walking.Running has the following advantages over walking:
Better cardio work out, more calories burnt, more strenthening of lower muscles, better agility, better proprioception , better balance etc etc.
no running will not make your legs bulky . however it is important to choose your surface and shoes for runnig. a very hard surface is bad. however research shows that it is better to run on the road than on the sidewalks. It is better to alternate between running and walking ie. incorporate walking and runnig into your exercise routine.
invest in good shoes first.

Well, running is hard walking is easier!! your more likely to stick with walking. i love walking it's made me pretty damn fit!!!

no. running is much better than walking. an advantage of running is that its faster pace so it realeses endorphins (they are natural chemicals in ur body that make u feel happy an positive etc) and when you're walking its much slower so endorphins arent realsed much , and you have tme to dwell on the negatives (eg your body image)

I have started out with walking. Now I am walking and jogging and I want to work up to run. But I mostly walk because I just like to do it and I can go longer. It definitely made results for me. I have been dieting and exercising and have lost 18lbs so far. Walking has helped me lose 2 inches from my hips and 2 inches of each thigh. They look more toned and there is more definition in my calves. I love it. I would pick walking over running because I can walk 5 miles at a time..but not run so I definitely get my workout. When I can work up to a run, I will love it. Both are the best workouts for you, it just depends on what you want or can do.
