Weight loss/diet and exercise question....?!

Question: i am looking to lose weight in a healthy way. however, with weightwatchers my doctor said it wasn't supplying me with enough calories. she told me that @ 16, for my height, 5'9, i should be taking in 1600 calories per day. weight watchers is only supplying me with a little under 1200. its obviously not healthy. so, what should i do as far as diet goes and as far as exercise goes? if i burned 600 calories 6x per week would i lose weight? should i eat, 3 meals and 3 snacks per day? i am so confused on how to go about this, i don't know what to do.

Ok. I'm not an expert, but if you stop eating completely you just gain more weight. So i suggest that, as you said, do have little snacks between meals and 3 meals a day. See when you actually eat healthy and work out it helps to loose weight. So skip the nachos and sodas and go for something more like a salad and water. You dont have to cut junk food out completely, just dont eat it as often.

i agree with the other girl,
if you dont eat you loose the wieght but then when you eat your use to not eating and it turns to fat right away,,
eat alot of oragnes they have acid that burns fat!

Look at WW advice as guidelines, not hard, fast rules. WW is wonderful, but you have to customize it for your own individual needs.

So, your Dr wants you to consume 1600cal/day. But what if you can't lose weight on that consumption? Simple: you'll need to increase your exercise. So to help you cut through the confusion, remember this inviolable rule: to lose weight, you must burn more calories/week (or day) than you consume. So you can do this easy experiment on yourself. Start regularly consuming a 1600cal/day diet and see if you lose weight with your present exercise regime. If you don't, you'll have to increase your exercise in order to burn more calories. Eventually you'll find a place where you can consistently lose weight in a healthy manner (i.e., 1-2 lbs/week). Of course, you could also consume less than 1600cal/day, but I suspect that at your age, while you're growing, your Dr doesn't think that's a good idea (1200 cal/day is quite a spare diet!). In other words, you can eat too little for good health, but (within reason) probably not exercise too much.

Remember, losing weight in a healthy way is a slow process. Don't be in a hurry. That's when people get into trouble. Almost always, rapid weight losers just rebound and have to start all over again. With a sensible program of healthy eating and exercise, you don't have to go through that.
