Dancing to Lose Weight?!


Question: in order for it to be effective what kind of dance and how long should a person do this i mean i can stand there and shake my hips for 5mins and wonder why im not losing anything lol how long every work out and how many times a week would be ideal to lose weight and when i reach my goal to keep fit ??

if you want to take some dance classes...i would try jazz or salsa or something like that...with ALOT of movement.
OR
(this is gonna sound kinda little kid-ish..but it works)
if you have an x-box or something like that...get the game DDR (dance dance revolution) and work your way up to Standard level...its a good workout if you play at that level for 20-30 mins about 2-3 times a week

Any fast dancing rather to rock , country or jazz is good but you need at least 1/2 half hour consistently a day. 5 minutes is not neary enough time for any excercise. Good luck!

I have DDR, too. Trust me, just keep at it and you'll get better! You can go on workout mode, and change the routines so that at first they dont have certain difficult moves. Practice and practice, and as you get stronger the moves become easier. I've lost 20 pounds using DDR!

Loki, look into belly dancing, it's fun and can be quite tiring and although you have 2 left feet(me too), you'll still get a work out even if you don't do floorwork.
