Overweight Girl..?!

Question: My friend's daughter is almost 190 lbs.
she is 11 and, this is a picture of her,http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n291/... (She's on the right)
It is halloween 2k7 and her weight doesn't normally show because she's tall but,she wants to play soccer in 7th grade and needs to know how to lose weight, like fast. She's got a treadmill at home, if that helps.

Please don't be snobby and mean about her because, try living life in her shoes. It isn't so fun. If you're not going to say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

I know what that's like, my daughter was always heavy and tall all her life. All you can do is encourage her, and if its not this year, there is always next year. Anything you can do to keep her going, and on a meal plan, shell do fine, but she has to know its all up to her, with a little help from friends and family. Dont hound her,or she might back off. Try talking to her dr. for advice, I did and he talked to her and it seem to help. I wish the best!

go to google and type in BMI.
calculate hers.

The one on the right? Are you sure thats the right picture. That looks like a 25 year old pregnant woman. Im not kidding or trying to be mean. It does not look like an 11 year old girl. and if its the one in the kiss shirt not the black dress thing then that person is not fat at all. I dont know, its the hair that makes her look older.

Was she ever checked for health issues? Some things can make a person gain weight, does she have any mental disorders or anything that make her take medicine because that can make a person gain. If she is big because her mother has been a poor mother and doesnt feed her the right food or make her active then you should be discussing it with the mom and teaching her the right food to cook and what to do. Really big kids are not just big because they sit around, it has to be the food they eat too, take out sugary cereals, crappy snack foods like chips or candy, no pop, no regular kool aid, fast food should stop coming into the house, limiting the childs food intake, like learning normal portion sizes and not giving them more and more or forcing them to eat when they say they arent hungry.

The only diet that works for my extended family girls and boys is the ATKINS diet!
TRY THIS>>
"No sugar, no white bread, no fried foods, and no sugar drinks. DIET ONLY DRINKS!"

Take her to the park, go jogging, and make sure to avoid all chocolate, soda, and sugars!

she needs to lay of junk food and stuff like that and she needs to eat salads, like every lunch and dinner. she needs to excercise, and the treadmill helps but it doesn't let her lose weight to her full potential. she needs to diversify her excercise, like running, bicycling...

she should power walk on the treadmill everyday even if its 15 min, also try staying away from coke and sweets.drink plenty of water. she is young and its usually alot easier for young people to lose weight and if she sticks to it she will lose the weight. tell her to stretch before and after she walks

Get her on a strict diet plan with exercise. Its all you can do. Its up to her metabolism. I lost 75lbs in a yr. But I really wasnt trying. I kept my meals smaller portioned. They say to change metabolic rate to eat real small portions several times a day. Eat wht the food pyrimid suggests. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Dont feel bad my son is 12 and weighs 220. But he is also very tall. Taller than me.

Hey try this link. She's still too young to be taking pills that may hurt her body system. This is organic, and healthy. It
works she just has to be patience cuz loosing weight in a hurry never works. SHe'll get sick, and if she does loose the weight once she stops doing whatever she did it will all come back. She's a pretty girl but for her healths sake she should loose a bit of weight in a non dangerous way. Good luck to all.

treadmill helps.....she should run like everymorning without eating heavy breakfast and that will do the most also running will be helpfull in soccer so TELL HER TO RUN

Make sure she eats a healthy breakfast every morning, therefore speeding up her metabolism.

Instead of eating junkfood, replace it with healthy fruits and/or veggies.
Make sure she exercises at least 20 minutes a day with her heartrate reaching near or maximum.
To calculate how high her heartrate should be take 260 and subtract her age, which would be 249 I believe.

Good luck.

Let's be honest, she won't be able to lose that weight fast - nor would it be healthy if she could.
Start with the food she eats, don't feed her unhealthy food (if she doesn't like it, good then she'll eat even less). Work on a stable excercise plan, honestly a treadmill won't do too much because she probably can't run that far... walking does next to nothing. She needs to build up her stamina, not only for soccer and to lose weight, but also for her health.

you should not be posting pics of your friends 11 year old daughter on the internet....seriously....?

Her parents really need to take charge of what she eats. Even if she whines and throws a tantrum...they really shouldnt give in to giving her stuff. That is really overweight for an 11 year old girl. I mean..what is she going to weigh when she is 16? 18? 27? Its really bad for her health. I looked at the picture..is she the one in the dress? If yes..then yeah she really needs to lose weight because its really unhealthy. The eating habits she develops now are the ones that will follow her through life. My mom made the mistake of allowing me to have junk food when I was really young..and that was a hard road to go down. Now I am almost 18 and I have changed how I eat and I exercise. I have lost 18 lbs so far and am starting to get healthier and happier. OH! and even if she is in school sports..she may not lose weight from that. I was always in sports and active (volleyball, basketball, soccer) and the most I would lose was about 5 pounds because I didn't change my eating habits. I would have her start on the treadmill. Its worked for me. I am doing 30-65 minutes everyday walking or jogging on the treadmill. But any activity will be good for her.
