Anyone felt like they were gaining weight no matter what?!

Question: So, I have gained a total of 15 pounds in the last year and 8 months!!!! I cant believe it! what do I do?!?

I am thinking about enrolling in a boot camp close to my house, its for 4 weeks, an hour a day monday through friday and they garuntee 5-12pounds, and 3-5% body fat increase and whatever whatever and if I dont lose weight at the end of the program, I get a full refund. Should I try it?

I dont know what else to do! I am so unahppy, I am very moody because of my weight and my boyfriend has noticed a huge confidence decrease and low self esteem in my attitude. I want to look and feel sexy again, I have not weighed this much since high school, I lost a lot of weight when I turned 18 and slowly gained it back. I am 20 yrs old and too young to be out of shape...

anyone have good ideas to lose weight? or if they think I should try this program. I also have a problem cooking healthy foods, I live on my own, work and go to school so cookin sucks cuz I dont know what to make

First, it's never healthy (nor long-term) to loose weight quickly. Any program that "helps" you loose a lot of weight quickly, will not stay off & it will not be in a healthy way.

Second, it's all about the basics. You need to eat healthy & exercise regularly.

I put on weight quickly when I slip up, so I have to stay diligent in my routines. I'm a geek, so I don't have a super-active lifestyle. In order to stay at a healthy weight, I have to spend ~ 3-5 hours/week at the gym & eat healthy.

At the gym, I spend 30-60 minutes on an elliptical machine. I find that the elliptical is much easier than a treadmill and I hate it less. I also spend 15-30 minutes lifting weights.

My wife doesn't like lifting weights, so she spends more time doing ab work outs (she buys videos), yoga, pilates, etc.

As for cooking - I do all the cooking, my wife hates cooking. But she loves my food. We both used to eat LOTS of junk food, fast food, etc. It's easy, it's fast, it's accessible.

We eat out rarely now, maybe 1-2/month - and only healthy foods. Subway, Sushi & the occasional vegetarian pizza.

I focus on cooking lots of lean meats, like turkey, chicken & fish. We've also cut down our "refined carbs" - bagels, white bread, white rice, bleached pasta.

We both love our meats, especially hamburgers & hot dogs. Both are HORRIBLE for you. So, rather than cutting them out, we buy Boca Burgers (or Morning Star Vegetarian Burgers, etc) & low fat / fat free, lean hot dogs. Sometimes I can't find them - however, in the Kosher section - there are almost always low-fat kosher hot dogs. (When you buy the buns, make sure you get some that are WHOLE WHEAT and do not have high fructose corn syrup).

We keep healthy snacks in the house. No chips, no "buttered popcorn," no "candy" (my wife LOVES to break that one though). Pretzels with honey mustard, "smart pop" popcorn, carrots & fat free ranch, raisins, granola, etc.

We replaced our fatty cooking foods with non-fat foods. Fat-free milk (I actually drink light soy milk). Brummel & Brown Yogurt Butter, Non-fat cooking spray. Light Orange Juice. Fat-free/low-fat Mayonaise. Fat-free/low-fat salad dressing.

We stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup wherever possible (I've read several studies that say it increases apititite and is linked to the obesity epidemic in the U.S.).

I know that probably sounds like a lot, but the key is to make small changes and integrate them into your daily life. Big changes never stick. Little changes do.

Remember, it's a process, and it takes a lot of time. You won't get to where you want to be over night.

Hope that helps, good luck!

You should give the program a try, but also try to get advice on how to keep the weight off once you've finished the program. You're probably just eating too much. Exercise is fruitless for weight loss if you negate the exercise by overeating. Cut your portions; leave 1/4 of your normal meals uneaten. It sounds like you're slowly gaining weight so I wouldn't recommend anything drastic, like cutting your meals in half, or cutting out snacks altogether, but you need to be careful about meal size, snacks and useless sugary drinks.
