What is the best diet plan to follow when trying to lose weight?!


Question: I have started going to the gym 4-5 times per week and have been doing circuit training for 40 minutes, and 30 minutes of cardio (on the treadmill). I have been drinking at least 64 oz. of water daily (which is a huge jump for me because I used to never drink water). I have stopped eating after 8 p.m. and I have cut out most all sugar (candy, snack cakes, kool-aid). The problem is I just don't know what to eat. They say you should eat 5-6 small meals per day, but I just don't have a clue.

Does anybody know of a basic diet plan that I could follow? Has anybody lost 50 pounds or more? If so, how did you do it? I am 30, 5'2" and weigh around 199 lbs.

You are certainly on the right track. But calling it a "diet" defeats the purpose. What you need to do is to change your eating habits. Not diet. This is a life change and diet implies a short term fix.
Food wise, the small meals can be fresh veges, fruits, whole grains, yogurt, white meats (chicken, fish, etc) salads. Low carb, low fat, lots of good protiens. Pass on white foods like breads, pasta, potatoes. Go for sweet poatoes..no butter needed and loaded with vitamins and minerals.

I am also 30, wife & mother of five, yes I am losing the weight consistently. I was 224.5 now I am down to 187.5. EVERY WEEK I have lost weight even Thanksgiving week & Christmas.
