Yogurt, can't stand it, but it helps you lose weight, so...?!

Question: I cannot stand yogurt.

But my MIL and a few others swear it helps quench your appetite and helps you lose weight. MIL lost a lot of weight eating yogurt and stuff.

So I'm trying to find SOMETHING to help me stomach yogurt.

I've tried the orange creme, even though the taste is 'ok', I can't get over the consistency. I want it to be a cremesicle!

I tried vanilla yogurt with M&Ms. IMO this is kind of redundant. chocolate is bad, yogurt is good, so they cancel each other out.

I even tried chocolate tasting yogurt and didn't really like that either.

Any yogurt out there that the pickiest eater can stomach?

Maybe you should try jello.
when my friend had they tonsils taken out . all they could eat was jello and they lost alot of weightt.
or trty gogurts. they are like frozen yogurt. its really good.

It's actually the calcium content of yogurt that's believed to help in weight loss. The trick is that most people who start eating yogurt use it to substitute for a higher-calorie food. You'll probably see the same effect if you drink or eat an equal amount of a different sort of calcium -- skim milk, for example, or fat-free cheese.

Yes yogurt is a decent food to eat while trying to lose weight. But to be successful in weight loss you have to have a lifelong eating plan. If you don't like yogurt than that isn't going to work. You need to choose low fat options that fill you up out of things you enjoy eating otherwise when your done eating your awful yogurt your weight will come all back.

If you can't stand yogurt, then don't eat it!! You don't like it for a reason, so don't bother. If you want to help quench your appetite, try lean protein like chicken or fish that's broiled, grilled, or baked w/o breading. A handful of nuts, almonds preferrably, is a protein with healthy fats that help calm your stomach. If you must eat yogurt, try freezing it ot try frozen yougurt, it tastes just like ice cream!

Probably because it is a dairy product. If your not lactose intolerant drink more milk instead. Dairy products do help you feel full longer. I usually drink a protein shake of 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup frozen berries, 1 TBSP soy protein powder and 1 TBSP of peanut butter. It's very filling and keeps me from getting hungry after a workout.

If you want to mask the flavour of the yogurt, make yourself a smoothie. Blend the yogurt with your favourite fruit and even some of your breakfast cereal.

Yogurt is an excelent source of calcium, a decent souce of protein (same as milk), and great for your digestive system - but it is NOT a 'diet' food. First, it has lots of simple carbohydrates, and I'm talking about plain yougurt, because the flavored ones have lots of sugar added, so it is like any regular desert food. Also, unless it's low fat of fat-free, yogurt has a fair amount of saturated fat. Freezing or heating yogurt kills the live bacteria in it, which are actually the ones responsible for the digestive benefits, turning yogurt into regular milk, nutrition-wise.

Yogurt fits very well into a balancend daily nutrition (balanced diet that is), but in small amounts - I eat 1/4 to 1/2 cup of plain fat-free yogurt a day for it's health benefits, although I add a little bit of sweetness.

If your goal is to loose weight, you don't need to concentrate on yogurt. Start with exercise, substitute all refined carbs (white bread, pasta, potatoes, anything with sugar, etc) with complex carbs (whole grains, squash, etc.), stay away from cheese, high fat meats, high fat foods from vegetable sources as well. Eat lots of brocoli, cauliflower, green beans, all kinds of leafy greens in large amounts with no-fat, no-sugar dressing like vinegars. Eat lean meat like skinless chicken breast, skinless turkey breast, pork tenderloin, fish of any kind (fat from fish is healthy). Also consume other animal protein like egg whites (the yolk is mosly saturated fat, avoid it) or skim milk in small amounts (no more than 1/2 cup a day). Include some fruit every day (one serving).

As a final advice, to reach and mantain a healthy weight you need to eat healthy. Stay away from highly processed products labeled as 'diet' and head for the produce section of the supermarket, nearly everything there is good. I hope this helps!
