Eating sugar after a workout?!

Question: Im 16 and taken protein post workout for a while but have recently discovered the importance of sugar to get an insulin spike after a hard workout. There is a drink available with 50g of sugar as well as 25g of protein which I am considering buying. However, in my family there is a history of high blood pressure, so would taking such high amounts of sugar be harmful to my health? thanks.

Eat natural sugars found in fruits, and simple whole grain carbs. Don't buy into fad drinks, except Gatorade if you sweat a lot. Lay off the starchy, white foods, they mess with your blood sugar levels. Eat steady, small meals throughout the day. You don't need to add sugar, you need to regulate the sugar already in your body.

that is a ridiculous amount of sugar in one drink. i'd drink water.

ya it is... you shouldnt drink anything with sugar after a workout...

it is better to take sugar from natural sources .... eat an apple after working out

Suger is just garbs so there are beter ways to get them and it isnt neccissary unless you are trying to bulk up. In that case I would load up on pastas and white foods.

lol whats the point in working out...and then eating that much sugar? thats absolutely ridiculous

yea that is waaaay too much sugar u dont need that
