Gastric Bypass...The easy way out?!

Question: Why do a lot of people not approved of the gastric bypass and/or think its the easy way out?

Answers: Why do a lot of people not approved of the gastric bypass and/or think its the easy way out?

Clearly having gastric bypass is seen as the "easy way out" because its insanely effective, however NOT easy. I spent two weeks in the hospital from a few complications, mainly due to vitamin level problems because getting your brand spanking new diet on track is extremely difficult. I went 2 months or so without any meat, and 6 months without caffeine, and for the rest of my life i can't drink soda! You also have to take vitamins daily for the rest of your life and work around getting very sick at the drop of a hat if you eat something your tiny stomach doesn't agree with. Those are just a few things too, I got a 100 page "manual" for my surgery! Does that sound easy to anyone else? I'm not complaining, since i did lose 230 lbs so far, but it takes a lot of dedication, support, and will power! Imagine your entire way of living doing a 180! Its honestly like learning how to walk again and there can be some complications, but they are rare if say you get the laproscopic surgery (or Roux-en-Y, which is what i had) Bottom line: its a lifestyle change similar to losing a kidney and by no means easy. Effective, yes, walk in the park..NO!

its not its dangerous, people fail to realize this and if they eat more than they should it can rupture their stomach causing internal bleeding which can led to death

It is very invasive to the human body. Many complications can happen...

Some of us eat more than we should and do not stop...Getting a bypass does not mean they will stop...

It all starts with a thought. Some people eat to feel good instead of just eating what they need...Instead of feeling good without over eating...

I'm tired of people saying that having the gastric bypass is the easy way out. It's NOT alot of people do it for health reasons. I personally have had it done. I did it to be healthy, to be around for my kids and to be able to do things with them. It has taught me how to eat better and to live a healthier life. My husband had it first almost 2 yrs. ago and he has done amazing he has lost 200 lbs., and has not had any problems feels and looks great. I have lost 40 lbs. and I have already been taken off my diabetes and high blood pressure meds in only 2 months. I feel wonderful. And recommend it to anyone, if you really need it.

People are judgmental. Not everyone can adhere to a diet or keep weight off. We are all imperfect in some way. Gastric bypass is right for certain people.
