Weight Training Experts Please Come in!?!

Question: My buddy is a frequent weight room visitor and his birthday is coming up. I want to get him weight lifting gloves for his present but I don't know what kind of things I should look for in one. If you have any kind of sources or any specific kind of gloves to recommend, please let me know!! Thank you all!

There are a number of different glove styles and manufacturers, and several different price points, but I personally like Harbinger.

The following are all solid options:

- Harbinger Training Grip Gloves - Heavy-duty glove with some padding
- Harbinger Big Grips: A little heavier duty than even the Training Grips and have some gel in the palms for extra cushioning.
- Harbinger Pro Series. These are pretty basic lifting gloves, but in my experience, the palms don't hold up very well. Expect to replace them in about 6-8 months. However, the price is right at around $15, so you can afford to do this more often.

I would avoid the gloves that have wrist wraps. I've used them myself and found that they provided too much support and ultimately weakened my wrists. This became very apparent when I switched to a version that didn't have wrist wraps and found that I was having wrist pain. In general, wraps of any kind (as well as things like lifting belts) interfere with the natural strengthening around joints that should happen as you increase your load. It's one of the reasons I try to avoid lifting straps, unless I use them for one or two heavy sets of rows and chins.

I've included links below.

Best of luck!

The best gloves incorporate wrist straps for support. Your only problem is what size to get him. I suggest getting LARGE and if those don't fit he can always exchange them.

Hi,

I have been struggling for years trying to build muscle.
I have used every workout program out there, used stimulants,
you name it, I have done it. Finally I came across something
that actually works!
