I want to start jogging but I dont know how to go about getting started so?!

As Tina and Bananasa had said, stretch exercises are the most important part of running to minimize injury. As you run, your leg and thigh muscles gradually gets tighter. You loosen them by doing stretch exercises before you run, after, and before you turn in to sleep for the night. If you don't stretch before going to sleep, your leg and thigh muscles will be harder and tighter. You may also experience leg cramps, where it feels like the muscles are twisting out of place on their own (excruciating pain). If you can find a park or school yard with grass, then running on grass will be easier on your legs. The grass acts as a cushion to decrease the strain on your leg muscles. Start out by running 30 to 45 minutes a day, then gradually increase this my 10 or 15 minutes every 2 weeks as your body gets use to running and exertion. On hot days, have fluids like Gator-aide to replenish what your body losses. This is the best time to start running, when the temperature is cool (or cold), and your body is not likely to experience heat exhaustion. If you can afford it, join a health club (in the summer months) with an indoor running tracks, or treadmill, to get away from the summer heat and avoid heat exhaustion.

Just buy some sweat clothes but something warm like an open sleeves hoody or a body warmer for running outside. Then just start by walking briskly and once you're warmed up start a slow jog and then just time yourself around a set route. Then you will know that you're improving as you get round the route quicker!

U should start with interval training. run one minute followed by running the next and alternate. gradually u wont' need the breaks and u'll have the running bug!
always stretch before and after. find a nice route, buy ur self good fitting trainers, and a watch and ur set!

stretch well. buy a new pair of kicks. dress appropriately (if its cold get some under armor) and hit the road.... u will know if ur pushing urself too hard

go ur own pace... but make sure u get a work out... the first few times u do it ur not going to get very far but just keep at it.

some people have a certain route they take... others jog a certain distance then jog back

i personally prefer park areas with lots of trees. and i usually just jog until i can anymore and then turn around and walk back home

Get a good pair of shoes -- not just any running shoe, but a shoe that is specifically designed for the type of runner/walker that you are. For example, do you pronate? Are your feet flat? Do you have high arches? Go to a store that specializes in running gear to get help with choosing a good shoe. A good sales person will have you try on a shoe and run/jog in them either in the store, or down the block to make sure that you've got the right fit. The shoes are the key -- I can't stress this enough. If you have great shoes, jogging will feel great throughout your body. If you have shoes that are not fitting properly or not made for your particular type of running, you will hate jogging, every step of the way.

While I was training to run 3 & 5Ks, I learned this: purchase good/comfortable "running" shoes. Prepare your body by walking about 50 ft, then choose a running goal (the next mailbox or street light). Make it a realistic goal and don't quit. Once you reach that mail box or street light, take a small fast-paced walking break, then start to run again. Begin with a mile of running/walking. The next time, extend it to over a mile, making your running goal further and further. The next thing you know, your walks are now runs. I was told to definitely stretch after, because your muscles are warm (or something like that). Oh, don't lift your feet off of the ground too high and your knees bent too much or you'll tire faster. And watch your arm movement. The more you move your arms, the more your heart rate increases, causing you to tire quicker. Good Luck!
