personally i wouldnt say pasta itself was fattening, its when you load it with meat and/or cheese that it shoots it off the reichter scale, calorie-wise. Try it with just a little bit of pesto - gorgeous!!

its full of carbs, it will need to be burnt off, or it will be the worse thing you eat

What a vague question. An excess of any food with a calorific value is fattening.

I definitely woudlnt call it a fattening or unhealthy food, though if you put lots of stuff on it, it might be less so. Yes it has carbs, but you do need a certain number of carbs every day to be healthy. Eaten in the context of a balanced diet its great!

depends... if its eaten with protein yes if not no

its a carbohydrate so of coarse it is but if you dont have a lot then it will fit quite well into a balenced diet.
also it depends weather its brown or white pasta...brown is less fattening!

try n use the whole wheat pasta and eat the right portion size like 1 cup thats it and then no its not that bad dont eat a whole bowl full

pasta is just carbs. it wont be fattening as long as you burn it off later. carbs are an easy source of energy for your body, so the "pasta" will be the first thing to be burnt off, especially if you are doing a high intensity workout which in turn needs quick energy. if you ate pasta and then didnt do excercise to burn it off, then the excess carbs would eventually get stored in your body as fat.

Carbs don't matter calories matter
eat to much of any thing- it will be fattening.
The recomend caloric intake is about 10-12 * your body weight perday depending on your activity level. grain has long been a staple of the human diet, and pasta for a given wiehgt has alot few calories than lets say Cheese.
A gram of carbs or a gram of protien have about 3 calories and a gram of fat has 9.

They have some great whole grain pastas now. Barilla Plus is one of them. Keep it to one cup and add some good tomatoe sauce. Eat them no more than twice a week. Try it with some vegetables. Stay away from the plain white pastas, they do nothing for you. Just look for "whole grain" in the pasta section.

Boiling is the way you cook pasta.

Now if you over cook it it becomes more glutenous and that I think would be closer to glucose which is sugar.

Al dente is the best way to eat pasta because it takes time for the carbs to be broken down into sugars.

Now having any high carb food should be eaten with a leafy green veggie, especially if you also ingest a protein.

It's really not a good meal, cheap but not good.

You should eat a mixture of a protein, veggies and a smaller amount of pasta.

Another thing to think of is that pasta is basically flour, add water to flour and you have glue. Overcooked pasta without anything else is like eating glue sort of. I don't think it's too good for your digestive system.

No it is not fattening. If you keep it plain and simple. Don't smother it in a cream sauce, stick to tomato based sauces. Just boiled is pretty boring.
