Is diet soda ok to drink every few days?!

Question: I love soda, to the point that I was drinking way too much weekly. Probably 2 or 3 times a day. Which probably contributed to my weight gain. Now i'm trying to lose weight to save my back, so I've switched to healthier foods, however, when I need a fix of soda, (which I love), I drink a cup of diet soda in a day and think, well, better diet than regular. Should I cut out the diet soda too or is that not so bad?

Read up on what 'xs' said about the artificial sweetener in diet soda called, 'aspartame'. If even half of what you read is true about it, you may never want to drink one again. But it's not just that; the phosphoric (and citric) acid that is in both regular and diet soda is extremely acidic which will eat the enamel off your teeth. For example, if water has a neutral pH of 7.0 , and battery acid has a pH of 1.0 (acidic enough to burn your skin), sodas like Mt. Dew, Coke, Pepsi and others, have a pH of 2.5-3.0 !! (keep in mind that tooth enamel is eroded below a pH of 5.5). Phosphoric acid is also used to spray rust off the hulls of ships. Bottoms up!

it wont make you gain weight, but diet soft drink contains a chemical called aspartame which can cause cancer

diet soda would not make you gain weight, but you can get health problems by time like osteoporosis

Although diet sodas have less sugar than regular, they still aren't good for you because of the artificial sweeteners.

I'm a soda fan too, trying to cut back. I started drinking diet only a few times a week, just to get my fix in. I also use flavored water packets and get carbonated flavored water from Walmart... it's about 20 oz and it has the same fizz as soda, which is what I figured out I really needed... the carbonation, not the flavor!
