I need advice about crash dieting?!

Question: I have lost just over 94 pounds in just over two years and two months and I am about two hundred and ninety-five pounds. What I would like to do is get to 270 as quickly as I can whereupon I will settle in for a much slower weight loss until I reach 170 pounds. I just need to get the heck away from the three hundred pound mark. For well over a year I would get close to going below 300 pounds whereupon I would screw up and shoot back up by twenty or more pounds! I was finally able to get below 300 but not enough for comfort, and that is why I would like to crash diet a bit. I am a male in my late 40s and in good health. I am also a couple of inches over six feet if that means anything. I also cannot attend a gym right now but I can walk a lot and do.

Thanks for any attention that you guys can give.

I LOVE crash diets. The only key to them is not eating barley anything. 300 calories a day. Anyone with willpower can do it. I just came off of a three day fast which means that I havn't ate anything for 3 days straight. The only key to keeping the weight that I lost off is to go very slowly back into raising my metabolism again. All I've had today was a peice of toast... and for about the next 7 days all I'm allowed to eat is under 300 calories because if I don't then all that hard work will go down the drain. Once my metabolism kicks back up... I'll go on another fast until I reach my goal weight. (Yes I'm pro ana)

Don't do it. Crash dieting messes with your metabolism and will make it MORE difficult for you to lose the weight and keep it off. You may drop it fast but when yo go back to eating normal your body will work as if its in starvation mode and horde calories. Instead of focusing on how close or far yo uare from 300 focus on how haf you have come from your original weight.

That said building muscle mass will help your body burn calories better. You dont need to go to the gym or buy weights to build muscle mass.

Push ups, pull ups, lunges, sit ups, etc.

Dont crash diet because where as your healthy now it might not last. Your dont want to make your self sick so dont eat like nothing or one type of food. It a variety but make sure there super healthy. You will loose that weight in no time. I know a friend who uses south beach diet and looks FANTASTIC so maybe try that =]]

Crash dieting is bad for you! I've never done it before, but i've seen an episode of Full House to know that it's dangerous. That kind of dieting can lead to other things like anorexia and bulimia. You don't want to go down that dangerous road. That road leads to death! The best thing to do is to stay away from foods that have a high calorie content and try to eat as much fruit and drink lots and lots of water!

And if you're walking, keep it up! Walk about 30 minutes a day and you'll feel better about yourself after you lose the weight you want to!

Simply put...

Crash Diet - Metabolism slows down - harder to keep weight off - will be above 300 before you know it

Keep up the good work!

Losing weight slowly will keep it off :D
