What is a good breakfast to fix for kids, before they leave off for a big test?!

Question: Oatmeal it sits there and give them energy through out the test or activity, it's not heavy like eggs or meat, that might make them sleepy. And its not a sugar rush like kiddie cereals, that drains them completely half an hour after. A steady stream of controlled energy for a good few hours.

Try steel cut as it takes longer to digest and thus the energy reserve lasts longer.

Prep for steel cut: Fill the bowl half way with the grain, add twice as much water/milk.
Nuke it for two minutes, let it sit till the grains have absorbed all or most of the liquid. then ad a table spoon of butter and a bit more water/milk or some heavy cream and nuke it for another minute.

If the kids don't like it, you eat it, that will be your fiber for the day.

Oatmeal with bananas. Both are heavy in protein.

All fish has omega 3 fatty acids, which help with thinking and brain function. Perhaps a salmon cut or tuna. I know it isn't exactly "breakfast food," but it works. I've tried it myself.
