How can I stop from eating too much?!


Question: I'm a teenager and I tend to eat pretty healthy earlier in the day, but when I get home from school, I eat way to much. I know it's unhealthy, but it feels like I can't stop myself. I'm not fat, but I've been gaining weight and I don't want to become fat. Does anyone have suggestions on how to resist eating too much food?

Deprive yourself of certain things e.g blankets at night if you've eaten bad in the day or force yourself to have a cold shower.

Drink water when you are hungry cause you could possibly be dehydrated! Hope i helped!

i have the exact same problem. just in the afternoon like from 3-5pm. i love sugar free gum. like trident. it REALLY helps me not to munch.

whenever you feel like eating something such as a snack or chocolate or something, brush your teeth. That way, the taste of the tooth paste will taste badly with whatever you eat.
that's what I do and it really helps ^_^

Well the easiest to say is when you are hungry eat an apple/some fruit, but that is boring. Or take the 'bad' food out of your house.

But instead create a plan for yourself daily. That you will get home, have a snack, do your homework, do whatever activities, have dinner, etc. And only eat when you have it scheduled.

Keep yourself busy and away from the kitchen/out of the house if you cannot have self-control.

Or look up foods that are 'filling'

Do you eat breakfast? Some say you miss breakfast and you crave sugar the rest of the day and eat more.

i have the same exact problem.
usually when i get a craving for something, i brush my teeth cause then everything will taste terrible & you won't want to eat anything.
it has two upsides; you won't get fat & you'll have very white teeth :D

every time you eat the wrong thing slam your head in to a wall as hard as you can you will knock youself out forget you ate it but still feel full and wont need it again that day.

I know this doesn't work for everyone, but if you really want something sometimes you just have to suck it up and do it. I was a smoker for five years and quit without any gum or smoking aid, etc. because I wanted it badly enough. Honestly, that made me gain a lot of self control which I know will serve me for the rest of my life. If you feel the urge to keep eating even if you're not hungry try to just stop yourself and go do something that you enjoy instead.

Drink water,thats what i do if im not hungry and want to eat. If i drink liquids it fills me up!Espescially orange juice!
Try making urself a smoothie or a milk shake. This fills you up, doesnt leave ypu hungry, and is very healthy (if you use the right ingidenets)!
Eat healthy:before and After school, and exerscise.This will help you loose some of the weight youve gained.

i have the same problem, and lately ive noticed what helps is distracting myself so that i wont even think about food. well, if im into a guy or have a boyfriend.. for some reason i never think about food. ha, so you could do that. otherwiseee... just occupy your time doing other things like going places, hanging out with friends, doing homework. and when your eating all that crap afterschool pretend every bite is fat thats gonna go on your body.. it makes me not want to eat when i tell myself it will make me fat.

Find something else to do when you get home. You are eating out of boredom. Go for a run, buy a stairstepper, read, get on your bike and go for a ride, take the dog for a walk.

I do the same thing. I sit in front of the tv and that triggers the eating. I'm not hungry, I just wanna eat because I'm watching tv.

Or finding something to do with your hands helps too. Knit, crochet, make something. Just keeping your hands busy will help too.

your probably not eating to much. But if you a drink a whole glass of water before eating his will curb your appetite also use small plates put your food on a plate also blue plates curb your appetite

Eat foods that are high in protein or vegetables. Egg whites, fish (not fried ), chicken breast, plain beans, salad, and steamed vegetables won't mess with your appetite. But really tasty foods, potato chips, cake and cookies, candy, salt, greasy meats, and so on increase food cravings and people can't stop eating.

Also, get a serious hobby, like a sport or a craft. This can be your outlet. Alot of people have nothing fun in their lives, so they eat for fun. Hopeefully, you won't pick up that hard to break habit.

mostly likely you aren't eating enough during the day and are compensating at night. eat more protein, veggies and high fiber carbs like oats, beans, lentils, etc. all natural foods are low calorie and you can consume much more of them then processed foods.
