Is it true that after having your gall bladder removed its harder to lose weight!

Question: why?

Answers: why?

my mother has had her gall bladder out for about 5 or 6 years... she just went from right at 185 to 135 in about 12 months. she just used and appetite supressant and watched what her kind of food intake.
I've had my gall bladder out for about 4 years and I did the exact same thing she did except watching the type of food intake and I lost nothing. But I do have a severe thyroid problem. Before my surgery I was 160 and I'm over 200 now..
But it is my fault... I can eat anything.. Not everyone has issues with fatty foods. I even had to have a bag for my bile to be held in because the doc tore my bile duct and it had to heal..I have a very large scar down the middle of my belly to prove it. Something I wasn't supposed to have.
Your body still produces bile after you have a gall bladder surgery because your liver produces it but your gall bladder stores it. After surgery your liver just dumps bile into your stomach/small intestines... but being in the gall bladder makes the bile concentrated..
I have a friend that has had her gall bladder removed since she was a teenager.. She went from being nothing to her top out weight after about 20 years was 240 or more.
she went on a diabetic diet because of diabetic problems and lost all that down to about 150. She lost her mom and she is back up to over 200 already after about 11 months.
So really it is up to you.
You can lose the weight. Or you can just not gain it....

I think some people have a hard time with the weight gain after a gall bladder issue because they went so long without being able to eat most of what they wanted.
I lost 25 lbs down to the 160 in just 2 weeks from not being able to eat because of the pain. Then after that it all came back plus tons more because I was hungry for what I couldn't have. I"M OVER IT!!!!!!
I am back on my I want to be healthy attitude and that is what it takes.

I looked up resorces and copied 2 things about this subject..

GOOD LUCK! If it hurts ya though take it out. It isn't worth the pain to not lose a few pounds.

yes

dont know

Nope it just a excuse sorry!!!

i have here the consequences http://www.google.com/custom?hl=en&clien...

Yes, had mine out a few years back & have put on weight ever since, I walk a lot, but it will not take the pounds off

i dont know, but i would hazard a guess that it would be easier to be honest.

the gall bladder stores bile for use when digesting in small intestine. it is particularly helpful in helping to digest fat. i would guess that you could eat a lot more fat and not digest as much if you had no gall bladder. other than that i cant see what difference it would make.

no..because you can not eat fatty foods anymore..

I've been told that. I suppose because the gall bladder is to break down fats. When thats gone theres nothing left to break down the fat.

I am a nurse and I do not believe that is true. I had my gall bladder out last summer and since then have lost a little over 20 lbs. Your gall bladder works to help break down fats, since you cant break them down as easily, you absorb less of it. However you also have a harder time breaking down and absorbing fat soluable vitamins, so you may need to take supplements. A good multivitamin should do.

it varies some people do and some dint but just do not get strenuous and lift anything heavy until you are fully recovered

My Gall blader was removed a few years ago,

I was just told to stick to a low fat diet as you can not digest food as well when gall blader as been removed.
