Some people eat sometimes because they have an oral fixation or in other words they need something in their mouth or something to chew on. Chewing gum and smoking are both ways that people eat less. You still get hungry at some point though.

no i dont think so b/c when i chew gum i get hungry

it just depends on the person and your state of mind. personally, chewing gum sometimes makes me more hungry!

No, but drinking cold water helps keep hunger away. Drink water and wait up to 20 minutes and you shouldn't be as hungry.

Some of hunger is just a state of mind, and some of it is physical need. It depends on you. I know it doesn't help me, but you may be mentally strong enough to satisfy your appetite by chewing gum. However, it is NOT a long term solution, as the physical need will kick in. Your body needs food.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO its a myth.... only SOME gums dont get you hungry like Orbit.. others do.... I should know, I chew gum 24/7

Well Tay, that is because it helps distract some people and not others...When I wrestled in High School about one hundred years ago.. We used to chew it then spit out the saliva to make weight... the smart ones watched their weight all the time...=)

well you should be getting more hungry because your body knows you have food in your mouth and your chewing it but it's not going down to the stomach but your body is already getting all prepared for digestion so your just teasing your body... causing you to get hungry
