Yes! Also spicy foods increase metabolism!

Ways to Boost Your Metabolism

-Eat Regularly - Eating 5-6 small meals throughout the day will give you energy throughout the day--helping you to burn calories. Whereas, calories eaten during larger meals tend to get stored as fat.
-Maintain a Balanced Diet - Not only how often you eat is important, but your food choices are equally as important. Nurture you body with the appropriate balance of protein and carbs.

-Eating whole foods rather than processed food gives your digestive system a workout that burns calories. For example: choose an apple over apple juice.
-Workout with Weights - Building muscle mass will replace stored fat. As you build muscle tissue your metabolism increases.
-Don't Forget Cardio - You need to get that heart rate up and breathe a little heavier. Twenty to thirty minutes of cardiovascular activity 5 days a week is recommended. Brisk walking or swimming are good. Or utilize exercise equipment (exercise bike, treadmill, or elliptical trainer).

well increase drink a lot

your burning calories, not making muscles that make you burn more calories in the end. start weight lifting WITH cardio, it'll boost your metabolism faster.

more muscle you burn more fat

But metabolism also deals with eating, that is why many suggest 5-6 small meals a day.

your best bet is to eat 3 regular meals at regular times. A good breakfast is the key to keeping your metabolism fast. I'm 6', and 135 lbs. Cross country running sure helps too.

oh yeah baby...get up and get jogging...it is working even if you don't see it just yet...Now lets get everyone else up and out moving..Have a happy jog!

yes. don't give up. it is worth it. try running with VERY light weights-2-3 pound hand weights. that will increase your resistance and help build more muscle

Your are getting more muscle, but your metabolism will stay the same unless you eat.

Everytime you eat, your metabolism jump starts. Eat small 200-300 cal meals 6 times a day and take a multivitamin; this will keep your metabolism up all day!

You exercise is good, but it's keeping the right food in your stomach that increases your metabolism. Eat as soon as you get up, then 4 more small meals every day. Eat lots of protein, very little fat and carbohydrates.

Try 5 more weeks and you will see obvious changes. To increase muscle you need to do weight bearing exercises, not cardio. Maybe sprinting will help you.

Metabolism is a result of your daily diet and your state of health. As for changing it, I heard it was more of a theory and certainly not truly measurable.

See how long you can keep up the mile a day - that's a great healthy habit.

Yes, it will help alot. You'll lose some pounds for sure and get more tone. However it could take 3 months and remember muscle weighs more then fat, so you might not need to lose lbs, just tone up.

To say how long is a good Question. I found going up and down stair's helps burn off fat. " And you need that to." Running is good but roller blade is better. Balence is one good way that burns off sugger, fat ,and helps your mind to think ahead. Running can hurt your nee caps and all the bouncing in your joints gets worse with age. I would rather build myself up to eat the fat ,even when sleeping the cells keep going on day and night. The cell's need food so they eat fat that is stored in your boddy. Besides I like it when I can rest just costing to differen't places. See what happends when you stop running.!
