Basal Metabolic Rate: "Fuel/calories/food required to keep the lights on"

Any estimates you get from a website calorie calculator are going to be very rough guesses. Everyone is different. Digestive efficiency, endocrine function, diet, and many other factors make weight loss an individual adventure.

Other factors: Most people underestimate their calorie intake and overestimate the impact of their exercise program and general daily activity.

3 pounds a week is pretty optimistic. If you really are eating that little, your body is probably on the edge of starvation and trying to conserve.

You don't say how long you've been trying to lose weight, but if its been more than a month and nothing has happened, try eating a little less and exercising a little more. By exercise, I mean at least an hour a day of vigorous aerobic activity like cycling, running, or swimming laps.

You are probably building muscle, which weighs more than fat. The more muscle you build the easier it will be to melt that fat off. If you just started don't expect miracles over night. The fist 2 weeks are the hardest, most people don't see weight loss results, so they give up because they are not considering that muscle weighs more & are building muscle the first few weeks, keeping them at a steady weight. Don't give up and you will see results.
