What muscles does this exercise work?!

Question: That exercise where you step up onto a chair with one foot and step back down. I've been doing that 20 times on each side every day, and I assumed it would work a lot of the muscles in my legs, but only my butt is sore. Can I change that exercise so it works my legs too?

Yeah, that one works the butt muscles / upper thigh muscles/. For legs, thy these:

Standing, spread your legs past shoulder width. Squat down about halfway to the ground, adn come back up. It's simple, but after a bunch of squats (and if you slwo it down) this til really work the front thigh muscles.

For calf muscles, simply go up on your tip toes, and go back down. Slowly. Not a bounce, but just a rise and fall action. After a while you will feel the burn. Clench your calf muscles and this will make it more intense.

For butt / thign muscles.. sit down and rest back on your elbows. Have one of your legs like this /\ and the other sticking straight, parallel to your thigh. Raise that straight leg (using your butt) up and down and you will feel it in your thighs, butt, and tummy.

I do these exercises alot, well... maybe not enough I guess, but it kind of works! I have a slender figure and am trying to build up some muscle for a little bit of curves.

Hope this helps!

all your legs and butt.

20 times? doesnt seem like a lot...

Is your behind sore cuz you fell and landed on it ?

yeah,you can make some leg muscles by walking or running.Of u r older then u should get a Stepper(machine) and use it a lot.If u r younger (25>)then u could use a skipping rope.:)

remember for finding what muscle is gonna be used just touch all different part of ur body and those parts which are tensed or going up and down are the one which are working
and for ur legs
just close both hands at the back of ur head and bend ur knee and come down ( like the way ur sitting) all the way down and come up

Nothing really for you, but the chair sure is getting a workout.

It will work most of the muscles, stair climbs are good for that, but you must remember that the weakest muscles will hurt first. There is a good chance your butt feels it more than the others simply because that is the area doing more work.
You should probably throw in some other leg work, running, bike riding, squats etc, even if its just for variety to keep it interesting.
