How much exercise should a normal person do?!

Question: I'm not trying to lose weight, just trying to tone out my body.

I'm an 18 year old girl, 100 lbs. and 5'4. I've been eating and eating and eating and not exercising the past few years due to being busy in high school. Now, I can see those years affecting my thighs and stomach. For my New Year's resolution, I want to start eating healthy, sleeping on time, and doing exercise.

Therefore, how much exercise should I do to keep in shape? As in hours a per day and days per week?

Thanks. =]

Actually, although it is hard to believe, doctors recommend exercising 60 minutes every day. This can be hard to keep up, so I would suggest starting smaller, as in per say 30 minutes four days a week, and gradually increasing. Also, try to mix it up. Maybe run some days, lift weights other days, and do Pilate/yoga videos other days.
Since you are still young and in high school, find friends who want to tone up too. Working out with friends is good motivation and makes the time pass much quicker.
You could also join a class, such as a boxing or dancing class.

Are they getting thiner and thiner, you need to do some weight training will build some muscles on your skinny frame. 7 stone is very light for someone 5'4 it is underweight. Eat protein foods and avoid the junk. Start eating pasta and rice potatoes and veg.

It's reccommended you do at least an hour a day.

Try doing an hour of cardio at least 3 times a week and then the rest of the time do some toning.

30 mins a day is recommended...1 hr of daily activity(any...as long as your not sitting down---walking is an example) and if you want to be more athletic, try strength training 3x a week for 30 mins a day, 15-30 mins of cardio(try elliptical or treadmill or biking) a day, or you can also try yoga, kickboxing, dancing, or a combo of some or all of those....

You don't sound like you're overweight at all. Try walking a few times/week to start. Just put your ipod on and go for a 30 minute walk.
