Why do people wear sweats and sweaters while exercising?!


Question: don't sweats make you hot and sweaty while you work out? doesnt it bother people. I cant even wear a long sleeve while exercising-sometimes not even a shirt! especially basketball players, they wear warm ups on the sideline. Why? isnt it uncomfortable? and some people say its to sweat and lose weight, but sweating only makes you lose water, not fat. What's the real reason?

athletes, like basketball players, wear long-sleeved warmups because keeping their muscles warm avoids cramps and injuries when they are playing in spurts. if they get cold, their blood vessels contract to save body heat, then those muscles won't be getting enough oxygen to perform.
it's important to warm up your muscles before an intense activity (like walking before jogging before running) to get blood flowing. athletes need to keep that blood flow going so they can jump into the game when needed. you'll also often see football players on stationary bikes when they're not on, it's the same idea.
so yes, sweating more is uncomfortable, but it increases performance and reduces the risk of injury. and they certainly have to drink to keep up their fluid and electrolyte balance.

well mainly because they can get hot and sweat. the main reason is so they dont feel cold and stay hot.

i dont know thats a good question. sweat also means you are working hard. yes actual sweat is only water weight but sweating is a sign or burning fat.

The more you sweat, the more calories you are burning.

usually so they sweat and lose "weight", which is actually only water weight, like you said. maybe most people aren't aware of that. or they're uncomfortable with their body and try to hide it.

i can only work out in a t-shirt and shorts - i pass out when i get too hot. i don't know how other people can do it.

I know wrestlers use to this to lose weight before a big meet. It's also a way to lose calories by sweating a lot and being hot helps you sweat.
